Hi Guys,
Just some background:

Early last year I got my VIA VT6421 card and successfully modded a Hitachi v0078FK and later a Samsung MS25 using the proper VIA drivers without issue. Since then I reformatted my computer and must have forgot to re-install the proper VIA drivers and was just using those provided by Windows.
Anyway so this weekend I decided to tackle a BenQ VAD6038. Hooked everything up properly and used dosflash32 to unlock. But once I unlocked the drive I noticed the computer would hang for about 4-5 seconds before being fine again for another 4-5 seconds and continuing to go through this cycle. The computer I'm using is fairly old so I didn't really think much of it and proceeded to read and got the message that it was read successfully.
So next I used firmtool and combined my original with the hacked 12x iXtreme to created my personal hacked firmware. But when I tried to write I kept getting write errors. So I had a half written drive that could not be written to either using my original bin or the hacked one.
Today I got to thinking about the 4 second hangs and remembered that I didn't have the proper drivers on there for the VIA chipset. So I updated them and lo-and-behold no hang when I unlocked the drive using dosflash.
Now I can write the bins to the drive fine but when I load up the xbox it goes to the dashboard but the controller is not recognized. This happens no matter whether it is the orig.bin or the hacked bin that I write so I'm thinking maybe I got a bad read of my original.
Is it possible that my key is still in the orig.bin and I can salvage it and this drive?
What is the address where I can find it? I have a hex editor and could have a look myself I just need some guidance on what I should be looking for. Is there anything I'm overlooking? Thanks guys.
