Please help if u can my xbox boots to the green background of the original microsoft dashboard with no menu just the background before this i changed the language on the MS dash to french please help

How is the box modded?
What colour is the LED?

the xbox has a softmodded the led lights up green like normal

If the LED has always been green then try cold booting with Frosty's Rescue disc. If the softmod is still intact you will have ftp access to reinstall your dashboard.

If it won't boot a rescue disc you'll need to reinstall your softmod.

I did the cold boot rescue disk didn't work i got the same screen I can't ftp either. I tried Hotswap to Pc no luck. How should i go by installing the softmod agian if i can't boot cds or dvds at all manufactured or copied or ftp. by the way thanks for your help your the only one who has answered my post in 3 diffrent forums.

If you can't boot a genuine game then you'll have to hotswap, or build a new disc using the eeprom and xboxhdm.

What happened when you tried to hotswap?

I can't boot genuine game either. When i hot swap I used a xbox hdmaker boot disk from another xbox i have because i never made a backup of the hdd but i think that was my mistake either way the hdmaker read the hdd but when i went to xbrowser i would get error that said to connect hdd cause its not found.
I also have another xbox v1.0 with an Executer 3ce chip is there a way i can use it to fix my xbox.

I got the hotswap to work with the pc what can i do now to fix.

Start with the stock C files from Slayer's or CASH. Use Kingroach NDURE 3.1 to build a softmod file set on top of the stock C. Then you can either make an xboxhdm boot disc, hotswap and use xbrowser to copy the new files across to C and E, or you can use Xplorer360 (beta 6) to copy the files across.

I encountered a similar problem when playing around with the dashboard start-up (I wanted to make xbmc open from boot). If you have used a game exploit to perform the softmod then the following may help. If you boot the xb with the memory card (containing the softmod install files) plugged in, it will act as a boot disc taking you to the original soft mod install screen. There you can re-install or even better gain ftp access and correct your mistakes.
