having some troubles getting my xbox and laptop to talk

so do i just set it to be a manual ftp #? 1.2.3.4?

in my ftp cllient do i need to type anything other than 1.2.3.4?

l/p is xbox/xbox i guess?

also, in my router there is the input port (usually from the cable modem) and 4 other ports. is there a certain way this should be or are any of these fine for laptop and xbox?

sorry for the newb questions, will be super to get this working, feel like im close

thanks

You need to type whatever IP address the X-Box happens to have. That's very unlikely to be "1.2.3.4", unless you manually set it to that.

Usually, yes.

Any of those should be fine if using straight through cables. If using a crossover, you connect the laptop directly to the console.

This guide should help out.

thx the thing is though unless i turn off dhcp and do manual, i dont see what my ftp address is

i am on executor, is it somewhere other than settings/network

thanks

That would depend on your dashboard.

If you're unsure, give more details on what the menu that loads when you turn the console on looks like.

thanks, im still stuck

i have executer2

when i go to settings / network,
assignment -- auto ( dhcp ) - the IP address is greyed out

when i switch it to manual and give it a number 1.2.3.4, that wont connect

i thought even with dhcp, it would give it a working IP number, but am not seeing it.

am on a mac, using an ftp client. for now, using manual IP with 1.2.3.4, havent touched the log/pass so am trying to use xbox/xbox

not sure if this shows up, but here's my ftp client window
IPB ImageIPB Image

is there another way to trouble shoot

thanks so much, will be psyched when this is a go

The address is supposed to be greyed out when you select DHCP. FTP won't connect if you set the IP address to 1.2.3.4 because the Xbox and your laptop need to be on the same subnet i.e. only the last portion of the address should be different. So, if your laptop is 192.168.1.68, then your Xbox needs to be 192.168.1.x, where X is a number between 2 and 254 that hasn't already been assigned by your router.

I'm guessing that Xecuter 2 is the BIOS. We need to know which dashboard are are using.
Also, what is the IP address of your laptop?
