well i'm new to the ps3. i have been modding xbox's for a few years and finally decided to go with the playstation. the one thing that i don't like is that my controller cannot be charged while the system is off and the same with my new headset. i was wondering if anyone has tried re-wiring the usb to be hot while off, before i open her up and break something, all help would be greatly appreaciated. thanks

Sony made it that the USB ports on the PS3 would not work when the system is off on purpose.
The idea was that while a current was running through the system, they unit would produce heat, and thus overheat since unlike the Xbox 360, the fan does not run while the system is off.
If you got a PC in the same room as your PS3, I would say use the PC to charge your PS3 controllers or use a AC/DC USB charger.
