Hello Guys.

My name is Marcelo, and i'm from Brazil.
Just bought a XBox. Never used one before, so i'm a noob biggrin.gif
Have read LOTS of messages, here and in other forums. Learnt a lot from my readings, but not all of my questions were answered.
I have a UK XBox, V1.0, never modded before. Did the XBHDM + NDURE softmod, and everything is smooth so far.
The problem though is that here in Brazil the color standard is PAL-M, and my XBox have PAL-G output. They are VERY different standards (altough they are both PAL). The only 2 systems i can use here are PSL-M (obviously) and NTSC.
I'm using the Enigmah video selector and this way i have colour, NTSC output on my TV. But it's really annoying to have the DVD in the drive tray all the time, and have to load it in every boot.
My question is: is there a way to modify my bios so it output NTSC as default, or also load the video selector from HD upon every boot (better yet if it could be configured to select NTSC as default too)?
I tried to modify my bios with Config Magic, but when i try to lock my HD after modding the video string, it tells me to load the EEPROM, and despite my previous command to update the XBox one with my mod, it loads the old info again. So i can't change my EEPROM on the fly. I may be doing something wrong...
Well, any help is very much appreciated.
I can solder pretty well, so i do prefer hard mods. If there's a way to do it on the mobo, i'm all the way to it.

Thak you guys for keeping alive this wonderfull forum!

3 threads of the same contents?

eeprom contents is protected by virtual eeprom feature of Ndure softmod. Since you can solder, go ahead and tsop flash your xbox ( as long as it is not version 1.6) and then remove the softmod with Slayer 2.7 disc (or any similar boot disc). after which , the eeprom changes will be saved when you run ConfigMagic (make sure you are using the 1.6Final version though).

Sorry about the 3 threads guys!

I think the server returned me an error message (about 5 times until i finally managed to post the message), but in fact it have posted the message.

ldotsfan, thank you for your reply.
The problem with TSOP flash is, would i be able to use Live? As long as i've read about TSOP flash, it's not possible to disable it, and use Live services, right?
I'll read more on this subject.

Thanks!

If you want to retain live access then you'll have to install a chip, or keep the softmod - if it's a recent softmod it will support dual boot. To switch your softmod to NTSC you need to disable the virtual eeprom first. This post describes how to do it.
Bomb Bloke
It's possible to perform a TSOP flash on a 1.0/1.1 console while retaining Live access. As that system has a 1mb TSOP, it's possible to stick multiple BIOS files in there (a modded and an unmodded one for eg) then switch between 'em. The catch is you'll need to install the switches.

Basically you follow this guide to hook both the A18/A19 points to the capacitor thingy. Stick toggle switches on both wires and mount those through the X-Box case for easy access. Boom, selectable BIOS types in a TSOP...

However, have you heard of X-Link Kai? It allows you to play many system link games online, without a subscription. This might make Live redundant for you.

Hello guys,

This forum really is amazing, and you guys rocks!
I'm learning a lot from here lately, and this is maybe the part i like the most. Even more than playing games in itself tongue.gif

Well, among some files downloaded in past days, i've found the Boot From Media Bios Collection. This have some BFM BIOS images, as well the Phoenix Bios Loader. I FTPed it to my XBox, and after running the PBL with an Evox BIOS, my system booted in NTSC colour video.
I thought that it would back to the usual B/W blob thing intro video when i umplug the power cord. But i was wrong. It's now NTSC all the way biggrin.gif
Seems that this program did all the hard work, unlocking the virtual eeprom and replacing it with a NTSC one.

About the X-Link Kai, yes, i've heard of it about 2 days ago, when i was reading some stuff online. Seems amazing!
To tell you guys the truth, i'm not really into newer games. My main goal is to use the XBox as an emulation box, and Media Center. Of course, some of the newer games are really cool. I specially like the racing games, and would be cool to play them online. But using Live maybe a problem in various aspects. I don't have a subscription, and as i'm not an online hard gamer i don't know if it's worth to pay the subscription. Also there's is the fact that i must find people online at the same time i am, and that want to play the same game as well. As these games are not new, i don't know what is the probability of finding people on Live to my purposes. And there's the modding problem too.
On the other side there's the fact that X-Link don't support all the games, and seems that the racing ones suffer a lot from this.
But anyway, for now my main problem is solved. I can play in colour without have to keep the video selector DVD loaded.
Now i need to find a larger HD, as the 160GB one that i had put aside for this has died on me sad.gif
I have yet some questions, but it's better to open new threads.

Guys, one more time, i really appreciate all your help in the last days. Thank you all so much for taking the time to help me out.
