Currently I have a system with a 3.0 HT P4, and 1 gig of memory. I've had it for about 4 years nows, and I want to replace it. I want to step up from my current setup, but not looking to spend too much. Is there a setup someone recommends? In April I can get a dell discounted from my job, should I wait til then? The most I'm looking to spend right now is about 300 for a barebone or cpu, motherboard, mem, and case.

I don't really see that as much of an upgrade from what you have. That is slow memory, a lame processor and a value mobo, with a cheap case. Unless your current pc is physically broken, dont waste your time with that setup.

I agree with StrictPuppet. I am actually in the same boat as you.

What do you want out of the PC? Better gaming? Then just wait a little bit till prices come down on fast dual cores.

Yeah, gaming is important, I want a better pc in general, but not trying to build a super pc. So I guess I'll wait til April and just see about a Dell.
