Check out this slickdeals forum thread (link) and read the wiki post. It explains how to try and get a key for the beta. I believe the key will give you 6 months before expiry. If you get the beta iso, then I believe you get 30 or 120 days prior to expiry without a key, though I might wrong. To try and get a beta key, make sure you have a hotmail account, and read the wiki instructions.

Keep in mind, the keys may not be available any longer, so if your trying for one, check the wiki post, and it should list wether or not the keys are all gone.

you get 30, but i think it might be possible to rearm it (like the trial versions of server 2008) 2 or 3 times

Where I work we installed it on the beastiest computer we could throw together.

On a Phenom X4 with 8 gigs of RAM it sure whooped ass handily. While I still prefer XP, Windows 7 sure looks like a nice "next step". Its got alot of Vista's "feelings" but, they're on the right track.

If you torrent it, here's some MD5's of the real MS copies...

legitimate download and key - installed it on a virtual PC with 512mb ram allocated and 16gb space - finished the install but yet to take it for a test run.

downloaded it... my stupid m1330 xps will only let me partition off 10 gig...
it installed just fine... BUT... i had no room left for drivers... so i booted back into vista..
went to delete the windows 7 partition... HA, wouldnt let me...
so i ended up just formatting my harddrive and reinstalling vista... maybe ill put windows 7 on my old laptop once i get all my files off it... again.
its a hp dv9000 series... 2 gig of ram, 1.66 GHz c2d... so it can handle it no problem.. no like im gonna be using it for anything now :-*

downloaded 32 and 64 bit versions at the same time over night. installed 64 bit and it looks awesome. its fast on a low end acer x1200 desktop. AMD x2 4400+, 2 gb RAM, geforce 8200. did a little bit of baselining and saw that it only used about 30% while idling after startup.

some how it kept giving me new keys everytime i went to the download page, i stopped copying them at 3.

is this good for mobile user's? I read it was, might be good waiting a bit and getting it for my netbook.

im using 64 bit at the moment and it looks nice, bit like vista has raped linux kind with the new taskbar.

any ideas what year its predicted to be released?

I really like it, its very, very snappy compared to vista. It loads windows rather quickly, I definatly like the speed it has. Of course as some services get loaded onto it, it will slow down a bit.

The things I didnt like was the taller task bar, but thats just a case of getting used to it. I dont like how it feels so much like vista, although it is a very shiny and good looking interface.

Its definatly full of great little things that kinda make you think 'cool, thats really handy'.

I think ill be getting it either straight away or shortly after it comes out cool.gif

they are really going to have to do something to appease the people that went from 2.1 to 95... meh.... i run all vista at home becasue i only buy new manued pc's (to lazy to build) XP at work, with with server 2k and 2k3....

hogwash to me..

but then again i work in zVSE and zOS, lol.... they are my bitch!

its on my old laptop... the dv9000. installed just fine... seems pretty stable
it just sits downloading stuff all day... at night we watch planet earth 720p through it... runs good ha
on my m1330 i have vista and fedora dualbooting now....

I managed to tweak it down to look just like XP, since this new toolbar pisses me off (its mostly for touchscreen PC's so they made it overly large).

Though its started telling me that its been recovering from errors, so I think I've found a glitch in 'er.
