Static images can definitely burn themselves into the tubes if they are left sitting for too long but you have to think how many games do oyu play that have something sitting in one spot for that long other than the life meters etc. It would be no different then watching a football game and the score sitting the bottom corner of the screen for 3 hours. I am sure that you will be fine. They put those warning in the manual so that people don't leave their tv on with a static image on it.

A.I., alot of the warning comes from the old 8bit systems from the past, that for the most part uses stationary backgrounds. Iknow because i wasted two tv's. Boy was my dad pissed

I have a rear projection 43" HDTV Hitachi and have never had any burn in problems. My game sessions only last for maybe 2-3 hours at most. You do not have to worry about burn in if you are playing a game that has intervals where your life bars and others things go away for a little bit. The best advice to avoid burn in is to change the channel or turn off the tv at least once every 1 or 2 hours. The small tv station logos at the corner of the screen can be just as bad or worse.

Remember that if you get burn in you are probably going to need to replace all three of the rear projector tubes. This for my tv would cast around $400 each.

Also certain tv's burn in faster then others depending on the materials used. And never use a plasma tv for games. They are notorious for burn in.

Actualy, I never knew anything about still images being burnt. But I did notice that a station logo is visible when the TV is on but no channel is selected (blue background). I'ts defenatly not visible when watching TV / playing Xbox so I dont worry about it. I've left Halo working by mistake for hours and nothing ever happend. I have a 43" Toshiba, and I don't feel like going down 50 stairs to check the model, so forget about it...
