I am just wondering how long you've been using live since you flashed your console. Have you been banned? If so, how long did it take?
Since Release banned once. I know exactly why, Crackdown... serves me right! haha.

Bought my first console a year after the 360 came out. Never banned. Or at least not yet. Being banned is the risk you run when modding your console. Have had to buy several console's becasue of the 3RLOD, and my house got robbed.
Nobody has been banned for awhile. The only reason you get banned is because you play a bad rip, i.e you have downloaded a bad release from the internet, in which you deserved to get banned. Aslong as you stick to 1.5 and rip with kreon you should be fine.
my launch console never got banned. modded immediately when the first hitachi hacks came out. that system eventually rrod'ed beyond repair, and my newer falcon system has been working great with ixtreme 1.4 since march 08.
no ban on either system. as others have said, make your own backups with a kreon drive and xbc, and your good as safe as possible. just be aware that ms can update their ban scheme at any time

Hotswap method was only used by people when it first came out, because other options were not there, and it was something new to try out.
Now people just do it because they are cheap, or lazy.
I myself just use a spare Sammy ms25 that i flashed with the 800 firmware and the CK. works like a champ.
I never got BANNED, because the early piece of shit 360s i had died out.

I was considering buying a samsung drive and replacing it with the one in my 360, since the drive is not in the best of shape and use the old drive as a ripping drive. Then i realized i have to get a ck3 and that is just not worth it.

hot swap method isn't capable of getting the SS/PFI/DMI, which means that it can't make properly stealthed backups. your best bet is to get a kreon drive. i've had mine for a few years, but i seem to remember paying like $40 or something like that for it. they aren't too expensive.
