on the bottom where the smds, when i got this xbox from a guy one of them was hanging on to one of its two mount points and there is one next to it that looks like its completely missing, these are under the cpu on the motherboard........does that matter (im sure it does)
i power it on and i get instant rrod,

You need to compare it to another board of the same version. Or Take a picture of the aea of the motherboad your talking about and I will see if i have the SMD's in question on mine.

Well... I manage to solder 2 smd components that sits right under the gpu. You just need some desoldering braid and a good soldering iron and a lot of patience (just as long as the board pads are still intact).
