I'd just like to post my experience today....I've been reading alot about which dual layers to use with my backups, Verbatim or Memorex. So i happened to stop by my local radioshack, and the kid in there stated that he uses memorex for his 360 and never had a problem. So i picked up a spindle of 10 for 18 bucks just to try it.

Burned my first 2 backups at 2.4 x and did data verification in Imgburn all went well with both Prey and DMC4. When i stuck Prey in it recognized it right away, as soon as it got to the title screen, i got the dirty disc error. So i tried DMC 4.

Dude it sounded like my laser was having a lightsaber dual with vader inside my dvdrom. I immediately took it out , afraid it was damaging my drive. So just for shits and giggles 15 minz l8r i tried Prey again, now it said tray open, and took 5 minutes to boot. DMC4 booted finally, but the laser sounded like it was havng serious trouble reading it. I tried my originals and they worked fine after this mess, so it's not the ixtreme firmware or drive.

So i'm pretty convinced people aren't overdoing it when they say memorex sucks for 360 games. THESE DISCS ARE CHEAPER FOR A REASON. I had to argue with the manager at Radioshack to take them back, good thing they did.

I'm picking up Verbatim discs tomarrow mad.gif

It depends really i've been using memorex without a problem!
and same with Verbatim , never had a problem. Depends on your drive , some are picky others are not.

Do you have a samsung drive?

I use nothing but Memorex, and used to do 2x speed. After awhile, I got several bad disks with errors. I started burning at 8X and now i only get a coaster once in awhile. I have heard too many horror stories about Verbatims made in India being worthless. At the cost of $1.50 per verbatim over $0.65 per memorex, a bad burn now and then is something I can live with.

I first bought a three pack of Memorex DL +R DVDs. I put it next to the new ones I bought, and I noticed when I put them next to each other, that one says 2.4x and the other says 8x. I've been getting fails every time until I burned with Clone CD today. All three 2.4x discs worked the first time and I used Cookies Game Burner at 4x! I haven't had a single problem with any of the discs; they all worked perfectly.

I'm going to try and burn at 8x and see what happens. It will surely cut the wait time down too lol

yeah memorex totally blow. I bought a 25 pack on tuesday and so far I've had 9 coasters. the games that do burn, don't always work. the original three that I burned work flawlessly for some reason and are memorex 2.4x-8x and these ones only say 8x on the dvd. I burned all those at 4x as stated prior. I'm going to have to pick up a pack of verbatims later.

Do you guys think it could be the firmware that I flashed it with? I'm running 1.5 on a samsung drive.

Case proven. Just got home and burned the same 2 backups on some verbatim's bought from best buy today. They run BEAUTIFULLY, and i ejected and turned my console on and off multiple times to see if the tray would say anything other than "play game" and it didn't, all times the game was recognized immediately and or booted automaticlly.

Awesome. laugh.gif

You other guys that they work for you-well i'm jealous;) You'll save a couple of bucks on media. My 360 doesn't like memorex at all.

Paler, if it was a bad flash your originals won't play either. My originals worked fine. On another note i was talking to the kid at Best Buy and he said to stay away from memorex for the 360 as well.

I've been using verbatims for a while without a problem.
I bought some fujifilm 2.4x since they were only 14$ for a 15 spindle, they work like a charm on my lite-on.
Never tried memorex, but I wont now thanks for the thread!

people who have no problems with memorex just got lucky their dvd drive has the "laser of the gods" because most of my friends have tried a memorex and went right back to verbatims because of lockup/freezing issues with memorex tongue.gif

Memorex 3 coasters in 3 attempts. Hadnt had 1 coaster with verbatim. Using liteon dvd burner.

I have learned over the past that Memorex isn't quite fond of the Sammy 25 and is better with the Sammy 28, but still a little shaky. The Hitachi 49 & 59DJ has had no problems at all playing Memx backups. I tested a few Memx in a Benq and there were no known problems at all set at 12x. I also tested my Liteon with Memx and they play flawlessly every time for hours without skipping or glitching. I guess the Sammies don't really get along with Memx as they may make them work too hard on the job or something.

i tried to burn my first back up with nero and it made my 360 lose its mind, on off on off the laser was acting like a scared dog chasing it's tail. so i did a google and stumbled upon this vid, followed it with img burn and next burn came out flawless. i got the ms28 sammy. it could be bullspit, but it worked , for me , i also burned on a nearly brand new drive though , got it on black friday. it's a lg sata burner with blu ray player.

I love Memorex, I've never had a problem with my 360's (first a Hitachi, now a Lite-On). I'd rather buy the Mems over the Verbs anyday. Verbs are waaaaaaay too expensive!!
