Does anyone have good datfiles for the roms included in CoinOPS Ignite? The datfiles that came with it are huge and didn't remove too many of my roms from my .84 MAME set. The romset I have after using them is still somewhere around 10-11 GB. I know that BP likes keeping the size to under 1 DVD so you can play straight from the DVD.

Anybody who has his FULL suggested romlist (meaning that you downloaded it from scratch from the place that it's currently hosted), could you use THESE DATFILE CREATION INSTRUCTIONS to make good datfiles that will purge out dupes and all the games that BP doesn't have in the main romset?

I've already got 98% of the roms I need I'm sure, so I don't want to have to spend the time/bandwidth to re-download 4GB+ of MAME roms that I already have because there aren't good working datfiles.

I was looking for something similar myself, but I ended up downloading the whole lot from scratch as I accidentally deleted my old CoinOps installation anyway

So, once the whole lot has finished downloading and I get a chance (I'm not at home for the next couple of days) I'll whack a dat together for you.

While we're kind of on the subject, is there a stripped down FBA-XXX Pro DAT that doesn't contain all the dupes/versions that the official one has?

I do plan on getting a purged set of FBA roms together at some point. I actually have a torrent for all FBAxxx Pro 1.28 roms out there somewhere. I thoguht it would be a good idea to purge them though, but with the Xtras and MAME work I don't know if I'll be getting around to that any time soon. Now we have beta's for 1.29 being released by kenshiro, so the romsets will be different anyways.

If you get it done earlier no probs, I'll post on here before I create the DAT just to make sure you don't already have a copy.

Good point about FBA-XXX 1.29, I was keeping an eye on it but haven't looked at the progress that recently, I'll take a peek.

Also, on another, another side note...

The WinUAEX side of things, I'm looking at making a bulk load of HDF files (all of the whdload versions) using a custom made script and I think it'd be sensible to use them as the set used for your extras. I'll go in to more detail soon (if you're interested), as I'm not 100% sure of your knowledge on the Amiga as a platform.

Having the games as individual HDF files is the best solution in my eyes.

If you don't see me post that I've got them here KG, I didn't get them. I'll post here as soon as I do. I really appreciate it, even though I know I'm being a bit impatient now.

I'll definately post whatever work people want to put on computer systems like Amiga and others man. I'm just not up to the task of working on them myself. It would be nice to have some of that work done for me on a few of these things

Let me know what you're thinking. As long as whatever you do is working right when it comes my way we'll get it up on the Xtras thread and you'll get the credit. I really don't know squat about Amiga. You may want to talk to madmab or waal and check out THIS FORUM. They know a ton more about that system than I ever will.

I could probably write a dat generator for it, it could be useful. I gonna have a try with BenderMike sources (assuming CoinOps code is not available, if it's not the case can you give me a link please?).

I don't have any actual sourcecode for it. I mean, I do, but it's very old now so it wouldn't match the newest CoinOPS release.

What I need somebody to do here is use clrmamepro to make a datfile using the instructions I provided. The best way to do this would be for somebody who has downloaded the actual romset suggested by BP to use those instructions.

It's under 4.5 GB because it fits on 1 DVD. Currently my romset is 10-11GB and seriously needs to be purged of dupes.

you would be better off using the coinops gold source as that datfile has a lot more games supported,there was over 250 games removed for ugnite the soul purpose was so it fitted on a dvd.
at least if you use the gold dat you will have a lot more supported games and to be honest most of the new games that were added were mostly puzzle games.
stick with the coinops gold sourcecode.

Will I have the same problems with the CoinOPS Gold datfiles though? If somebody didn't take the time to actually purge out the roms and make a datfile, I'll still have a ton of dupes using those datfiles too.

I basically want somebody to create these dats for me from the full Ignite release so I can see what games BP picked as the best games, and eventually add the rest of them on my own some day. I have lists from a year and a half back of the games I want to keep and I will be getting back into MAME at some point.



EDIT: Gavin19 at the other forum says he can do this for me, but he didn't give a time frame on it. This seriously will only take somebody a few minutes to do. If anybody has this pack (from 5 megaupload links) I'd really appreciate it if somebody could make a quick datfile of them.

Heh.... I was on it myself. I resigned mself to downloading the whole thing and making the dats, but now megaupload is blocking me compltely and I didn't finish it. More worrying is that I rely on megaupload to do my work here s if it's hosed for me this could cause some real problems now.

Hopefully it comes back soon. It's been about 32 hours I've been blocked.

I wouldn't mind seeing yours when you do them thoub BoW. I figure between Gavin's, yours and mine, I can check to make sure we're all on the same page and I've got the right info.

The dat misses 2 roms, so use the
them 2 from gold version. Sorry, had to fit on to the dvd.
