Hey all,
I just flashed my BenQ from iXtreme 1.4 to 1.51 FINAL. I have flashed it myself before, but this was my first time using JungleFlasher.
The flash went okay, and the box is working fine, but one thing I don't quite understand is this:
All guides state that my BenQ should be listed in JungleFlasher as Vendor PBDS and Name VAD6038-64930C when its read. Mine was however listed as Vendor SATA and Name DVD-ROM.
Is this normal? I tried doing the flash anyway, and it worked as I said, but the following was written in the log:
Spoofing Target
DVD Key copied to target
Inquiry string copied from Source to Target
Inquiry string also copied to banks 1, 2, 3 for Benq
Identify string copied from Source to Target
Identify string also copied to banks 1, 2, 3 for Benq
Target spoofed as: SATA DVD-ROM 6243
0xFF00 area copied for Benq to Benq
So it seems to spoofed to this for some reason, but I don't know why. I certainly never did this intentionally, and the drive is the one the XBox was bought with, so i don't see why it should be spoofed.
So can anyone shed any light on this before I close up my XBox and declare my flash a success? Should I reflash it or something, to get it non-spoofed or am I okay?
Thanks in advance guys.

have you tried playing orig and backups
strange that it showed that
i would redo and make sure you have the orig dump 1.4 with your key in the source and 1.5.1 ixtreme in target spoof to target and save file to be sure
easy enough to redo just erase and write

I tried a backup which should only work on 1.51, and it worked without problems. Didn't try an original.
And the funny thing is that the drive was shown as the SATA DVD-ROM before the flash, as well as after.
The previous flash I did was with DosFlash, which went without a hitch, so I'm at a loss as to why it says it's spoofed...
Not sure redoing it will help, as the drive was listed as this before the flash as well.

if its working fine nothing to worry about
are you sure you selected the right port on the left and it was showing your benq cause it sounds like it was showing one of your dvdrom drives on your computer

I was thinking the exact same thing. Are you sure you didnt end up flashing your PC's DVD rom drive? If that was the case, you may have nuked it.
The only way to know if your 360 drive was in fact updated, you need to dump the fw from it, and open it up and make sure that the fw you dumped from it reports back as 1.51.
Just because the drive is working doesnt mean that it actually got updated, it might still be running off of the 1.4 fw.

Well, I had it set to VIA ports only, and my DVD drive is on my onboard intel SATA controller, and the XBox was of course hooked tot he VIA.
Just checked my DVD drive now, and its fine, works like a charm.
Also the game backup I tested on the XBox didn't work before the flash, because it was wave 3, and now it works, so I definitely flashed my XBox drive as I should.
I don't use Live much, but I don't want to be hit by the ban hammer when I do, so I'd like to be pretty sure it's okay like it is now.
Oh and thanks for the replies guys, it's much appreciated. Any other ideas on what i could do / try?

well, if it plays wave 3 fine, and your PC's dvd-rom drive is fine, the only thing left to do is to play away.
I would be careful of live though, IMHO, because of talks about a new check possibility being implemented by microsoft. Also, I know you didnt mention it, so I will, be sure not to mention anything about playing backup game x on live, because that is a violation of TOS on live, and thus not allowed to be discussed here.
On that note, grats on the flash and have fun!

There was one thing in the guide I didn't do, and that was removing the driver to the VIA SATA card from Windows before flashing.
Could that have caused the drive to show up differently perhaps?
And I manually installed PortIO32 which came with JungleFlasher, since I am running Vista. I was supposed to do that, right?

Leaving the via driver intact wouldn't cause your drive to show up differently. Reason for removing the via driver is to not get any freezing issues with JF which wasn't the case with your flash. Installing the port I/O driver manually is the right thing to do or you can do it automatically either way thats correct. As someone already suggested i would dump the firmware from the drive and check what firmware is exactly flashed to it.

this happened with mine too, but it works fine and plays 3rd wave games too, also when I wrote the F/W to the drive it always said "write verify failed" but it works so I guess it's ok, I re-read it and it said it had ixtreme 1.51 so I guess it's ok
