I picked a pioneer dvr 116d burner the other day.

I have had 100% success with verbs 8x burnt at 4x.

I've also tried other media to see what the burner's capability is. The media I have tried are:

Datawrite
Aone
Elite M

All three medias failed as the burner could not recognise the second layer.

hope this information helps smile.gif

Really? I have that same drive and have burnt onto at least 6 different DVD+R DL Brands with 100%success on all of them: Verbatim, Sony, Ritek, Memorex, Nexxtech, and JVC. I stick with Verbs strictly due to their positive reputation.

I do not see why you wouldn't be able to reconize the media. It sounds like a personal problem. Try to update, reflash, or hook it up on a different port.

Ive connected to an external caddy and have flashed it with the latest firware... 1.09.

i will try and reflash.

ive also tried it on different laptops via usb and same result.

what firmware are you running?
majinsoftware
are you using slower burn speed on the other media?

I've tried the other media on write speed 4x and 2.4x, no joy

As far as burners and media go, pioneer and verbatim are the ONLY way to go imo biggrin.gif

Im taking that advice on board.

I'm about to buy a DVD burner to backup my own 360 games. What are the ones I want to pick up and where is the best place to get it from?

Thanks!
