I'm trying to flash my bios in my xbox it is a 1.3 with a WB bios chip, for some reason i cant get the chip to unlock for flashing


If anyone can help it would be great

Have you soldered the TSOP flash points?
What are you using to flash the TSOP?
Are you getting any error messages?

If you have a Winbond chip then you need to use Raincoat to flash the chip, not Evox.

Yes i have the flash points done.

i was trying evox.

it just sits there and says erasing forever.

and can you link me to a good tut on raincoat flashing?
also my bios back up is 1024 and i find that very strange on a 1.3.

Use Eurasia (Google eurasia_pro_generic_flash_disc_1_3.zip), or Resctoox. Eurasia flashes a BIOS from a disc, Resctoox will flash from a disc, the hard drive, or via http.

BIOS backups are always 1024k, but make sure the BIOS you flash is the right size - 256k. I'd use iND-BIOS.5003.

Resctoox keeps saying that C:\bios doesn't exist i checked and it is there and the bios file is there.
im not shure what i can do about it tho

It's looking for a folder C:\Bios\ containing your bios files. The files themselves can have any name that ends in .bin.

i have the folder created and my bios file is in there but it is still saying the same thing.

is there anything i might be able to do about it?

Ah. I'd guess that you're using a softmod with shadow C, and you've put the bios folder on the shadow C, not the real C. Bypass the shadow C and put the BIOS on the real C (you'll probably need to delete a couple of filler files to make space). Alternatively flash via the network - it works really well.

what i had to do is restore my hdd and ftp to it befor i installed the softmod then do the mod then do the flashing and it worked

That's the most difficult way of bypassing shadow C (Krayzie and Kingroach both give you menu options to temporarily bypass it, and cold booting with Frosty's rescue disc does the same thing), but at least you got there.
