I am attempting to build a mini PC gaming system(purely for emulators)

Something that I can hook up to the TV without having to have a huge desktop computer sitting next to the tv.

Anyway, I have the motherboard all picked out, but now I am stuck as to what to add to it.

I need a slimline DVD drive I know

Can I just get any slimline DVD drive and attach it to the MB? I know I would need to install the drivers, but I am assuming the MB would recognize the new hardware and start that process...no? I have also learned that most IDE drives require an adapter to a Mini ITX board

Hard drive I pretty much have down, but also see that I may need an adapter for that too. Was thinking of going with maybe a 40gb.

I am not TOTALLY foreign when it comes to computers, but I never actually had to put one together. Thanks in advance and please stick with human terms when answering

It sounds like, with your intended useage, you would be better off just using a modded xbox.

At any rate, moving to the pc forum.

well, by the time I buy a modded Xbox and everything to do to it, I'd probably be at the same place...lol

plus I want to put it in a NES console

You mention mini-itx mobo, but the link to the mobo you supplied is for a micro-atx. Max size for micro-atx is 244mmx244mm, which is too big for a NES console. Now that mobo is not the full depth (estimate from the image is 244mmx180mm) so it will fit in the case, but not at the bottom of a NES as it is narrower on the footprint than on the top. The mobo would need to be mounted upside down against the lid.

If you don't know what I mean, I will take a few pictures in a bit.

hrmm, didn't even notice that...thanks

I typed in micro, but didn't realize it was an atx not itx

I haven't hooked it up yet because I got home late last night, and I am out all day/night today sad.gif

Girl who sold it looked like a college kid. She said her Dad hooked it all up. Not sure what chip is in it, but she said it was from "Europe"

Now, how to mod it!
