CHANGELOG since the May 01st 2009 Svn Rev19856 build:
QUOTE

2009-05-05 19947 [XBOX] Merged: Linuxport revisions 19875,19883,19916,19930,19934,19939
2009-05-03 19909 [XBOX] changed: Use to old way to replace the slashes like we did before
2009-05-03 19905 [XBOX] fixed: Some visualisations crashed (and possibly other zip:// stuff too) as our ValidatePath/CURL screwed up the URLs passed to it.
2009-05-02 19888 [XBOX] merged: trunk r19804 - Sync video/music db with linuxport. Now one should also be able to fully exchange dbs between sdl and xbox builds smile.gif
2009-05-02 19887 [XBOX] fixed: Slow music scan / enabled music db transactions like we did for Linuxport.

Merge Log:
19939: fixed: CEventServer wasn't making sure thread was stopped before deleting the CThread object. changed: simplified CEventServer thread usage by inheriting CThread instead
19934: fixed: CBackgroundPicLoader and CMusicInfoScraper wasn't stopping thread on destructor. anything overloading CThread::Process/On...() must stop it's builtin thread in it's own destructor, as it could be using member variables that get's destroyed before the CThread
19930: fixed: ticket #6493 - cleanonupdate in video library doesn't clean TV eps
19916: fixed #6478 Cbr/Cbz comic files start in slideshow (thanks jmarshall)
19883: added: log output of scraper functions. very useful until we have a proper scraper development tool
19875: updated: Hungarian translation #6482, based on English r19506 (thanks to olympia)

INSTALL NOTES from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

* APPLICATION INSTALL
- Fresh Install: Transfer _whole_ XBMC folder to your APPS folder (or where you want it).
- Upgrade: Backup the XBMC\UserData folder. Transfer whole XBMC folder to Xbox. Overwrite UserData folder with your backed up copy.

* DASHBOARD INSTALL (SOFTMODS)
ARE NOT COVERED IN THIS README, SEE http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656

* DASHBOARD INSTALL
- Option 1. Team XBMC's shortcut tool.
It's included in the _tools folder as <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>> + <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg>>.
Instructions here: http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard (Option 1).
Rename the <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>>+.cfg & also EDIT the .cfg so it matches your config.
See APPLICATION INSTALL above.
- Option 2. Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded) TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot (see http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard or read your BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore, and future upgrades you need not to worry about this file (unless you move XBMC).

* AN INTRODUCTION TO PLUGINS
XBMC has a system for Media plugins to allow browsing of remote content (Internet) using the regular filesystem approach.
Plugins are put inside >>XBMC/plugins/<video/music/pictures>/<< (I already do this for the one/s I include), furthermore they also need to be installed as a source in (video/music/pictures).
You do this install by using the contextmenu choice >>Add New Source<< while in ROOT list and then choosing ***Plugins as source.
Then you highlight (not select) the folder of the plugin you want to install. It will be saved inside sources.xml for future.

* WIN32 PC ENVIRONMENT INSTRUCTIONS (WIN32 FOLDER)
Good to know, this requires DirectX9 Runtimes to be installed. Also this doesn't work with all graphics cards.
You need to:
- Copy XBMC_PC.exe & 'run_me_first.bat' from win32 to XBMC folder
- Run 'run_me_first.bat'
- Run XBMC_PC.exe

* UPGRADE TIPS
If you're updating from a VERY old/bad build you may get issues. Follow these simple rules:
- Replace (FTP OVERWRITE) all files in your XBMC folder with fresh ones from your new build
- Delete old settings (from UserData/guisettings.xml)
- In some rare cases some of the database files in UserData/Database/*.db may need manual deletion (usually if they are very old). Note: This loses all per file settings you made with the old build!

Pardon me if I missed something, but this build isn't listed on the T3CH website. The newest build on there is the 5/1/09 build, but no sign of the 5/9/09 build.

thank you, thank you, thank you - always love the new releases and love to see the word "stable" in there even if i really have had very little problems (if any) with most releases anyways.

it appears to be there for me under the "stable release" heading.

latest SVN build does still show the 5/1 build...

I don't think this build supports x264 streams for the latest iPlayer either :-(

Thanks for the new release.
pezjono1986
Is there a Hulu stream plugin that will work for this release? I googled my heart out and could only find two differently sized plugins, both which return with python script errors when you try to use them in XBMC. Thanks in advance!

does anyone know if the IMdb and other media scrapers are functional in this version. The scraper function had been removed in a older version i had. Thanks in advance.

IMDB scraper is gone, probably for good, from the official xbmc deliverables. The replacement Film scrapers are working and have for at least two versions prior to this.

QUOTE(doeman @ May 11 2009, 06:33 PM) *

I don't think film info has ever been removed, xbmc just switched to scraping different sites from whom they had permission to do so.

Scrapers get their data directly from the website, if the site changes their layout etc. the scraper will stop working.

I was wondering if there was a way to edit XBMC to go into 16/9 wide screen mode rather than Zoom when I push select on my remote controller

What happens is I have to push the button 3 or 4 times to get into that mode and was wondering if there was a way for me to edit or setting option so that I only have to push it once

Just a little annoyance I would like to correct myself

Thanks

If you go into the in-video menu (push start, then video settings), set it on 16/9 and select "save as default for all movies". Every time you play a video it will start in 16/9 mode.

hi guys will the xmc360 skin work with this?

I dont think so. I think XBMC has moved on and the XMC360 skin has stayed put.

The only skin which is 100% compatible is the latest PMIII/HD. Which is a shame cos I now prefer mediastream.

Thanks for all the hard work that goes into this.
I will enjoy xbmc again and still.

Thanks for the build.

Because I have several Xboxes to upgrade I usually download the rar once, then copy over my lan in the the e:\apps directory. From there I can use the t3ch upgrader script to install and copy over my userdata. I don't seem to be able to get the script to do so this time, it only offers to let me download the RC1 build.

Is there a workaround for this? I know how to manually install, but it seems this script makes it a lot easier for many folks.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, I have never used any other scraper but the IMDB one, are the current one's "Film" any good? Can I still get all the thumbs,FanArt, ratings, plot, cast ...etc from the new scraper just as good?

Thanks again.

I seemed to have lost RSS feeds with this release. Any ideas anyone? (still works with older versions)

Woo thanks dude!

I will update it right now...

BTW, WHERE'S THIS GOD DAM XBMC??????

Something is badly wrong, the stable version on T3CH site is XBMC 9.04 r1 9856 (compiled: May 9 2009))

I mean WTF, both match at compiling day, but after loading the TRCH release my xbox display as rev R19856, and not rev 19947...

So whats wrong??? this thread??? T3CH XBMC?? or is it really this version, but just display wrong version??...

I have two questions, one, is it just me, or does the "programs" button seem to disappear in the pm3HD skin?, and two, is there a way to access the "exit" button in pm3HD using PMIII? It would be great to have both in one smile.gif, in hd the only way I can get to my programs is to set the "start" screen to the programs menu.

Outside of that every problem I had in 8.1 (or 8.11, i don't remember) Atlantis is working wonderfully here, Excellent job and thanks for the hard work Team XBMC. smile.gif
poonation
you can add the programs button to the front page of the PM HD skin by going into the skin settings. It is disabled by default. Click the option and BAM its there

I've got both RC!/final on my PC's drive, so I diff'd the XBEs. They're certainly not the same.

But I haven't actually gotten around to installing the final on my console yet, so I can't check the version data displayed there...

The idea is that only the X-Box is actually capable of booting programs via XBMC, and even some X-Box users (not me!) prefer to do without that menu.
Tsuris
@poonation
thank you, found it smile.gif
@bomb bloke, besides inserting a disc, how does one do that? (open without menu) emulators and such that is?
@guily6669
shows as xbmc 9.04 r19856 (Compiled: May 9 2009) on mine also, don't know what is right/wrong, but it works great, that is all I ask for smile.gif.
Bomb Bloke
I didn't say people prefer to "boot programs without a menu". I said they preferred to "do without that menu". As in, "they don't load programs via XBMC, so they don't see the point in having it".
Hack_kid
This is not the Babylon 9.04 Revision you can tell by checking the system info. This happened last STABLE release too we needed a PROPER. Someone needs to re compile
Guily6669
We still dont have this version in there...

Anyway:

FOR THE PEOPLE WHICH LIKE 360 THEME

Here's a fixed version of MC360 theme (I tested it and it works like a charm in those newest XBMC's version's)
Click HERE for fixed MC360 THEME (Thanks to "Bomb Bloke" for the link and Jezz_X from XBMC team for making it)

BTW. Im still having problems with this newest T3CH XBMC release, sometimes i go start a radio and it downloads a settings file and xbmc is just stucked and i have to restart, i think i have seen it fixed in the newest XBMC versions, but T3CH is in a lot older version...

+ if i let my xbox playing a music for too long, if i go change it XBMC just get's stucked and it appears as loading...loading...

Is it normal that the xbox build lacks the win32 build's 'Automatically generate thumbs for videos with no cover art' option?
Bomb Bloke
Indeed, that has not been added to the X-Box builds.
kingla
does anyone else get when they slide the time forward in a movie or video the little green bar doesnt move ?
Bomb Bloke
Yes (keeping in mind that I haven't tested this particular build yet... yeah, I'm quite the tardy one at the moment).

If it happens, it won't budge until you start a musical track or reboot.
law56ker
Hi, could someone explain to me what "Babylon" build means. How is it different than other builds. Thankyou.
Madmuhfuh
This is another bad build. Music playback crashes after a few songs and only plays partial tracks with a lot of mp3s. Videos play but the audio sync starts sliding after about 10 minutes and using the high quality pixel shader v2 the colour saturation is way too high.
Moving about thru dir structures causes a crash in any view except the file manager too.

Tried as a straight update and as a fresh install, same results with both.

And yeah the build number doesnt match what is supposed to be the Babylon build so I'm hoping this is a cock up and theyll put a stable version out VERY soon.

Last version i would consider stable for xbox is a long time ago, pre the last "stable" build, so im going to have to go back to that again now sad.gif And ive got a really bad feeling that this version updated my DB files (took ages loading first time) and they wont work on the old build again. So theres another 8 hours or so pissed away.

Might be time to just get a fixed version down and kill the xbox builds, looks like the ongoing dev for linux/windoze etc looks to be making it harder and harder to get a version that even works on xbox.
Madmuhfuh
OK, hate to be replying to my own posts heh but ive done some more testing...

PM3 skin fixes all the probs except the music crashes, seems to crash on the 5th tune every time. Possibly due to another issue ive found. Playing a video over SMB works fine first time then if you try another itll prompt you for the login details for the share and not accept them. Cant get back onto the network til I reboot the xbox or restart xbmc.

PM3.HD has all the same probs as any other skin.

This is running a bare build. No DBs, fresh install, all previous options and files gone, just the T3ch release.

So as long as ya dont mind an ugly as f*ck interface that looks like an old xbox dash and dont want to play any more than 5 tunes or 1 video over a network you should be fine :)
Guily6669
hey Madmuhfuh, i have the same problems, but the sound problems are fixed for a few time already, but not in this version, only in the newer ones (at least it's in the list)

The problem is XBMC is at REV. 20374 and T3CH will take a few years (sarcastic) to get there, and when they get there, rev 99999999 is out....

They really do a good job, but i think they should only compile and fix always the latest xbmc versions...

ps: that's just my opinion, because i still give them credits for their work, for me, for u, for all of us.....

I installed today. Thus far videos and music are fine. Audio is in sync and I played through several albums track by track. No issues.

Someone also mentioned RSS, I have those too. This was a download from T3CH as the stable Babylon build. No upgrade, wiped the Tdata/Udata folders and didn't transfer over anything from the previous (i.e. library/scrapes).

Not sure what to tell you guys. Unless I just got lucky today and it starts dying on me, this is the best build I can remember.

Well have u let ur xbox playing music for like 4 hours or more??? everytime i get too much time playing music, if i go change it it just stucks and xbmc appear as loading and loading, and in a hour still loading...

Also if i change internet radio musics all the time, it fails, i didint saw any problems while playing music from hdd or from my pc, it only happens in the web radio at least for me...

ps: I dont know about u, but i saw that the first time xbmc is good, but in a few days it just get slower, nothing of this happend in the very older ones...

As reported by some other users already, I have also encountered these two problems:

(Note I clean installed XBMC and am using it as dashboard)

1) Slow startup time, about 20-30 seconds.

2) The sliding bar (controlled by the right analogue stick) used to skip forwards and backwards while watching videos does not work. Or to be more precise, it works once then it doesn't respond anymore.

the smb errors are anoying but the problem is with windows because of that limit 10 per user and that xbox log one session per share you using
if you are using 5 share like me when i go to one share thats go fine but when i press back to see the share folders windows takes that for another 5 session login lets see 10 logins and if you do that again go to one share folder then press back it gets 15 sessions logins in windows and it expell that account and thats the error we have with shares greater than 4 or 5 what a weird bug

XBMC-SVN_2008-07-15_rev14095-T3CH-FIXED this build and forward have that one session per share backwards this build not have that bug

thanks for your this excelent program

PD.: sorry for my bad english

For me, so far, the build has been fine for everything except one aspect: the mplayer build seems to behave differently than just a few builds back. I have two xbox's, one with an XBMC build that's a couple of months old, and one that has the latest Babylon build. Both have a video plugin for Bleach7. The old one will play the video files through the plugin with no problems, but the new one fails. Does anyone know where I could find an older build of mplayer? Or should I just try copying over the mplayer folder from the older xbmc to the newer one?

Clean install and not a single problem!

Well one weird problem, when I go into programs it takes me to the black back arrow and I need to click the back button to get all the paths on the screen.

Can I fix that?

I suggest people start getting used to clean installs. I put this on a different XBOX and used the old data and it was all whacked out. Obviously something in some of the previous builds is creating some problems.

Fresh install and no worries!

It may have a default set. When you hit back once try bringing up the menu and see if it has a clear default.

I use XBMC 2.0 for my Xbox. It works awesome.

I downlaoded this newer version...its works good, but there is about a 1-2 sec delay in changing directories over a network and before u start watching a avi file.

It might have something to do with the fact that i overwrote my USERDATA file with the one that came with XBMC 2.0...however, the instructions say its okay to do this ?

I had to go back to XBMC 2.0 which i don't notice much of a difference anywayz.

I'd like to use the newer one...but cannot figure out why there is a delay now. If anyone has this issue an knows a work around...please let me know.

Maybe i'll try it again...and not overwrite my USERDATA first before i download it.

The entire issue maybe because i downloaded a binary file of this version elsewhere and they screwed it up. You don't provide the binary files i need for XMBC on the xbox here.
SinnfulDayz
I try to access XBMC from FlashFXP, I have everything set up right but tells me the connection times out and that it failed... I can connect to my Xbox and Xbins... any suggestions?
