Hello, i want to cut my liteon drive so that i can see the disc spinning, i want to cut it like there's only one trail leading to the spindle. Something like this:

Is this possible on a liteon? I believe there's a magnet in the spindle, and there's a big 'bubble' on the metal case (the circle where the sticker info is attached, on a higher level than the rest).
see:

Has anyone done that before on a liteon? thanks in advance, smile.gif

Yea that picture is either a lite-on or Benq drive because if you look towards the bottom of the DVD drive you will see the little indent right below the window

I did this to mine about 2 months ago and nothing has gone wrong yet.

Yes you can do that. I did it with my lite-on drive. Here are the results. When you take that big sticker off, you'll see the spindle.

There is no magnet on it so don't worry. If you remove the sticker prior to cutting and painting you will see that it has a plastic disk that separates the spindle from the sticker. Keep the plastic disk and try not to damage it or the adhesive thats on it when you remove it cuz your gonna need it after you cut. After you have cut your top and filed, sanded whatever method you use, place the disk back in the circle with the adhesive side down and that will help conceal your spindle when you paint over it. Well thats what I did to mine at least. biggrin.gif

So there isn't two layers of metal (that's what i first thought because of the 'bubble' on top of the drive).

I guess i'll just pry the sticker off and see what i can do smile.gif
