Special Note From T3CH:

* If you want to report bugs, please do it the PROPER way, see http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....oper_Bug_Report

INSTALL NOTES from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

* APPLICATION INSTALL
- Fresh Install: Transfer _whole_ XBMC folder to your APPS folder (or where you want it).
- Upgrade: Backup the XBMC\UserData folder. Transfer whole XBMC folder to Xbox. Overwrite UserData folder with your backed up copy.

* DASHBOARD INSTALL (SOFTMODS)
ARE NOT COVERED IN THIS README, SEE http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656

* DASHBOARD INSTALL
- Option 1. Team XBMC's shortcut tool.
It's included in the _tools folder as <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>> + <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg>>.
Instructions here: http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard (Option 1).
Rename the <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>>+.cfg & also EDIT the .cfg so it matches your config.
See APPLICATION INSTALL above.
- Option 2. Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded) TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot (see http://xbmc.org/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard or read your BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore, and future upgrades you need not to worry about this file (unless you move XBMC).

* AN INTRODUCTION TO PLUGINS
XBMC has a system for Media plugins to allow browsing of remote content (Internet) using the regular filesystem approach.
Plugins are put inside >>XBMC/plugins/<video/music/pictures>/<< (I already do this for the one/s I include), furthermore they also need to be installed as a source in (video/music/pictures).
You do this install by using the contextmenu choice >>Add New Source<< while in ROOT list and then choosing ***Plugins as source.
Then you highlight (not select) the folder of the plugin you want to install. It will be saved inside sources.xml for future.

* WIN32 PC ENVIRONMENT INSTRUCTIONS (WIN32 FOLDER)
Good to know, this requires DirectX9 Runtimes to be installed. Also this doesn't work with all graphics cards.
You need to:
- Copy XBMC_PC.exe & 'run_me_first.bat' from win32 to XBMC folder
- Run 'run_me_first.bat'
- Run XBMC_PC.exe

* UPGRADE TIPS
If you're updating from a VERY old/bad build you may get issues. Follow these simple rules:
- Replace (FTP OVERWRITE) all files in your XBMC folder with fresh ones from your new build
- Delete old settings (from UserData/guisettings.xml)
- In some rare cases some of the database files in UserData/Database/*.db may need manual deletion (usually if they are very old). Note: This loses all per file settings you made with the old build!

Hello!

With the latest build i cant play the whole DVD (all DVD:s), At the near end it just stops and returns to the menu, frustrating. I installed XBMC on my PC and it just played fine, but i discovered a slightly fastforward for just a sec where the movie crash on the xbmc. (same thing with VLC)

Debug log tells me that there is a memory leak:

There are always memory leaks. It's not running out of RAM, if that's what you're thinking.

Curious what you mean by "there are always memory leaks"?

Hey! Great build but a few minor bugs... Can't download any movie info at all so the movie library isn't worth using and I can't get thumbs for folders inside "Programs" but in Music/Videos it works smile.gif Hoping for a new SVN soon biggrin.gif

I put the 1-17 build on two xboxs, one which I did a number of TV scans without problems. I just deleted a couple of movies form the library and added them back in using the IMDB scrapper, did not have any problems.

When I upgrade I usually run the T3CH Upgrader script, this time I decided to manually copy everything. Every build I have tested over the last couple of months has had some sort of show stopper that prevented me from upgrading my reliable T3CH Sept 09 build. What I did this time, download/extract on PC, FTP to a new folder on the xbox and copy over my Userdata folder from the my Sept. build. I continue to boot the Sept. build but I launch the 1-17 build from it until I can confirm it's safe to replace. Everything is going great so far but if problems start popping up I will trash the Userdata folder and start with a completely clean version for testing. That's my nuclear option, which I have not had to perform yet.

Not sure why certain SVN's are released with known issues. It seems the releases contain a multiude of fixes for one issue, but cause a bunch of new issues. I know there are few people working on the Xbox version of XBMC these days. I also know these are not considered "stable" builds. I had Babylon 9.04.1, but a few scripts were incompatible. So I upgraded to 2010-01-03 SVN rev26316. That fixed the incompatible scripts. When 2010-01-17 SVN rev26941 came out I immediately upgraded. Now I have noticed that The Weather Channel script (animated maps) no longer works, Lyrics script no longer works, Apple Movie Trailers script works (but Theater Showtimes) no longer works.

I have seen Camelot 9.11 has been released on all versions except Xbox. Any idea when that will be released for Xbox?

It wont be - the only dev working on Xbox is Arnova - Xbox version is now XBMC4Xbox. Team XBMC have said for probably 2 years now official Team XBMC has stopped developing for Xbox due to outdated hardware - Arnova is of course a member of Team XBMC but the Xbox builds and development he does is separate from Linux/windows branches.

It looks like T3CH missed the 12/24/09 Camelot 9.11 build. It's still on the SVN. All he has to do is compile it and replace the old T3CH XBMC 2009-06-01 9.04.1-FIXED-Babylon as the stable version.

Is anyone else having problems with the apple movie trailers freezing the xbox? I am wondering if its a hardware limitation of the xbox (out of memory?). Does anyone know of a version that doesn't freeze? My xbox always freezes on or before the 4th trailer in a row.

I am having Apple Movie Trailers Freeze. I'm also having my DVD's jerk. I thought it was a network issue because I stream wirelessly on my home network. I have verified that is not the case by connecting through network cable and trying to play DVDs. ALL DVD ISOs drop frames resulting in Jerky Playback. Sound does not jerk, just audio.

Funny thing is high bitrate videos still play stellarly. I encode XviDs in 1280 x 540 with bitrate of 2400. Absolutely fabulous with no dropped frames. In fact playing better than ever. It is really confusing to me why DVDs are stuttering.

PROBLEM SOLVED :
The Video Playback settings used to have radio buttons for 480p, 720p and 1080i. Now they have a drop down with various options. For DVDs and DVDs only I change from "Best available" which I presume is 1080i to 720p and I get stutter free playback. Just have to remember to do that. And maybe I'm imagining it but I do see loss of quality which might be expected because upscaling is not happenning as much. But at least I can watch my DVD backups. I was starting to get worried.
When I watch my high quality backups I have to remember to switch to "Best Quality". If I watch on 720p I can definitely see quality drop. And as I said before, the AVIs do not stutter at 1080i so there is no reason to switch down. I can live with it unless the problem somehow gets solved in future.
Buzbee3
I noticed that fix for DVDs too. They play great at 720p but not at "best quality" which is indeed 1080i.

As for the apple movie trailers freezing I have to do a power off and power back on when this happens. I have adjusted the video settings, lower settings seem to just delay the problem not solve it.

gonna stick with may09 release for a while.... just to see if its worth the update

Hi,

After a very quick fix to the bug I reported.
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/8770

Any chance of a new build so I can test (> r27762) ?

Thanks,

Thanx kentyman for the link. Still no v26018 version though (Camelot 9.11 stable). Was there an issue with the so-called stable version?
Henne_C
xbmc is the shit and if i missed somebody else commenting on this i apologize... but when i copy multiple large files to someone else's xbox the status bar disappears (usually on the 2nd file) . It's been like that for a while and i figured it would work itself out but i switch to a newer build whenever i can and it hasn't, hence the post. Am i the only one that notices it?
Tosnic
Just tested the latest version and huh! it needs about 15 seconds to start up! wtf?
Is that normal with this release? Another release (last year) started up without hesitation.
Gilby_001
Just upgraded to this from the last stable build, now when I boot, xbmc wont load. My xbox (softmodded) just hangs at a black screen with a yellow ring. Because xbmc isnt running, I have no access to ftp to reinstall or downgrade. And I no longer have my exploitable splinter cell game. Suggestions please?
Tosnic
Don't you have Dualboot?
If not, you can still access your HDD with XBOXHDM. Remember you need to unlock the HDD before that.
Rockshocker
Hey everyone. I haven't been here in a couple years, I'm so glad these updates keep on coming. I look forward to updating my xbox and getting to know everyone. Nice to be back. I missed my old xbox hehe.

Hey all, I just updated to this new version and now am experiencing a few problems I'm hoping someone here can kindly help me with.

First, whenever I launch any program (game, emulator, another dashboard..anything) it now takes about 1-2 minutes rather than being immediate. Even more strangely, it only happens when programs are launched when I'm using composite video. If I plug in component cables, programs boot right up! What's going on here? How can I correct this...?

Secondly, this build will not launch DVD Videos or even .VOB files. Any idea why not and how to correct?

I'm sorry if this isn't the right place for asking such questions, but since they are issues with this particular dashboard build, I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks!

U probably will fix ur problem if u make a auto-lunch dvd with a ftp ready dash or app in it. One day i had exact the same problem as you, but it was different, because i compiled my self the latest xbmc version out there, which is a lot versions ahead from the ones t3ch works on. And i forgot to test it as an app, so i simply used it in my xbox as the main dash, and although it compiled with no errors, xbmc wouldnt load up and was all black like urs...

What i did is: I used a dvd i have here which is full of apps to install from the dvd. (although i had no dash, my xbox was still loading games if u turn it off then on with a dvd inside...).

And i always have like 3 times the xbmc inside my xbox all with different names, so i used the dvd file explorer and i erased the one i compiled and i simply copied other xbmc i had in other partition of the hdd to where my xbmc was installed, restarted my xbox and boom working again...

And if u dont have any other copy of ur xbmc in other folder inside ur xbox hdd, instead using an system explorer to copy, download the "Ultimate boot 4.0", burn to a dvd and u can install xbmc from that dvd, and update again, and this time be more careful...

U probably screwed up in the updating...

<<IMPORTANT>>(4 ppl + don't know/have problems updating xbmc)

What i do to update my xbmc version is:

I always share the new xbmc files from the pc, and i put them in the xbox in other folder than the original xbmc (or in other partition).

Then i start moving everything i have from my old xbmc (copy), to the new one, that way i will have the new one with my things (U can only copy ur things, like themes sounds, visuals, plugins, scripts...).

And never, but really never copy ur old files that belong to the xbmc build to the new xbmc, because that way u will screw it, neither is recommended to copy ur old settings from user data...

Then i simply open any app from the xbmc that has a system explorer and i rename my old XBMC to "OLDXBMC", and i copy the new fresh one to where ur xbmc were installed. Usually i use a 3rd copy of xbmc (i named it "BADxbmc") to use it's file explorer to update my xbmc to a new version...

ps: By this way u will always have a fresh xbmc that u know it is really updated and out of bugs from ur old files or settings..., and still u will always have all ur themes, sounds, virtualizations, scripts... in it. The only problem is u have to configure the new xbmc again and make the shortcust. But hey it's better to have a cleaned version with ur old things in it than using ur old data and then have more freezes and strange problems...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't know if u ppl noticed, but xbmc now is only bugs and more bugs sad.gif

I remember when i first had my first xbmc in the xbox back in 2005 or 2006 can't remember, i never ever had problems with it although it didn't had many options like nowadays, but now my xbmc is always freezing, giving errors...

I always have 3 different versions of xbmc in my xbox, i used to love using different colors in the original xbmc theme, but after some version now i can't use them anymore, i mean i use them, but nothing changes besides the first word of the news... But that version has sound problems...

I use other version that i didint encounter any music problems, but it's always freezing everytime. And the latest version i use as main dash is kinda booooooring, most of the radios doesnt open right, u open a radio and they open a few more radios which is the same and only then they can be played, this sucks...

ps: i will try this version and see if the radio is still fucked...

Many of the bugs that get introduced stay because no one bothers to properly document them. The coders themselves don't use every feature of XBMC (and there's a lot of them these days), and certain issues only crop up under specific configurations, etc.

The first step towards getting any given bug resolved is to work out exactly when it was introduced.
Guily6669
Yep, that's true, but Oh well!...

And again, i sadly wont use this version of xbmc sad.gif, RADIO is still screwed... and worst than the one before, because that one at least had icons and this one doesnt...

ps: didint even configured the xbmc, radio doesnt work any good so i skip this version.

ps2: If somoene know how to fix the radio, plz just let me know.

And plz can you guys fix the "shoutcast", some radios if you play them, they just open like if they were a folder, then they have a few radios inside and they are all the same radio...

I would be glad if you guys could fix that, and make every radio to be played without that issue.

Hi, I am getting really juddery video when playing back a DVD over the wired network. You mention that Video Playback settings radio buttons don't exist but I can see them in all the recent versions I have looked at but they are greyed out. I have just installed the t3ch latest build of 27th April and they are there too. Is there something I need to do to enable these so I can select 720p? Thanks.
Bomb Bloke
Your console needs to be set to NTSC mode (should already be this if you're in America/Japan), and you need a cable capable of HD attached (eg, component). If both these things are already true, try booting up the MS dash and seeing if you can enable 720p there.

I have a problem with my XBMC... I deleted my whole old build and installed the new one.. but as soon as i enter the freshly installed one it. intimidately freezes while playing the intro music...
Bomb Bloke
You'll need to see what your log file has to say about the matter. This is stored in your XBMC folder, and named "xbmc.log". There's also a backup log from the previous boot, called "xbmc.old.log".

If your console boots directly to XBMC, you can hold white + Y to have enter "emergency recovery mode", which should give you FTP access.
phinxy
Updated to latest svn now and i still got the DVD playback problem. A 700mb xvid works fine but DVD-movies close down at the ending. For example Shutter Island closes at 2:00:37.

Please help. Ill try some older svn releases and see what happens.

I think it is this in log:

"Error getting next block: Expected NAV packet"
or
"Got MSGQ_ABORT or MSGO_IS_ERROR return true"
jfentress
I believe that I was able to make them work by using the white "Menu" button and selecting "Play", rather than pressing the Green select button.

MY issue is with trying to access my NAS drive's UPNP. Ever since version 1/17/2010 or so, I've not been able to browse my NAS's music genres (since XBMC locks up whenever I try to add UPNP as a Source). Sigh.

I'm also experiencing a freeze when I try to browse/add upnp servers. The unpopulated server list will come up, then the xbox locks up, and I have to resort to a power cycle.

I have foobar2k with upnp module, ps3 media server, and windows 7/wmp sharing on the network.

Any ideas?

DAMN IT, now on any of the last builds the "SHOUTCAST" is gone, plz can anyone also check that? (It just say can't find the server error)

I have a build from (may 4 2008) and the shoutcast works, it have a different link to.

I also tried copying the old link to the new xbmc's, but still same error "Can't find server"

PLZ, can someone tell me how to fix the shoutcast? The shoutcast is the reason i always turn my xbox on, even more than my xbox 360...

It's so sad to see that XBMC teem gave a shit for the xbox version... Im wondering what is xbmc worth in a windows environment, where i can see already everything, and do everything. In the pc i just go to my videos and reproduce anything from there, i don't see the point of having xbmc on the pc, unless u really make a "PC MEDIA CENTER ONLY", and with a remote control, else than that is just a big waste of time...

ps: it's sad XBMC team stopped supporting xbox, i saw that some other team took the lead and will start converting the new xbmc's for the xbox, but oh well WHERE ARE THEM TO DOWNLOAD??? (if anyone know, plz just let me now).

Come to think of it: It seems that XBMC becomes worse with every newer version. I have three XBMC versions: 2006, 2008 and this release.
The oldest version lacks many scripts and fun stuff, but does its job well without flaws.
The 2008 version tends to stutter if I play my xvid encoded low-bitrate homebrew videos. But it is faster with images.
The latest release takes ca. 20 seconds to start (as an app).

About long loading times for launching apps in XBMC
I once had a similar problem on one of my XBOXes. The solution: re-installed XBMC and now apps are lauched instantly as they should.
Strange bug though.

Hey all.

First and probably last post:

Like it or not, these are the only people doing development, and this is the place to report bugs:

http://www.xbmc4xbox.org/

And you'll probably find download links from the forums there. Personally, I'll probably stick with Camelot until my xbox dies. There's a limit to what you can get the hardware to do. Have fun:

It's "almost" back up anyway. Some of you might have jad problems with the site over the last week or two. I had to completely re-write the site about a week ago due to some major database issues. And at the same time I split the site to deal with each Arch having its own revision # [even though they pretty much always have the same # anyway. but not always] And splitting the XBMC4Xbox off into its own section.

I also re-wrote my entire build process so now it is 100% automated [except my testing and putting my daily babble on the site] Sounds easy lol. But I had to make this work on all of my build machines as well.

I have 2 linux machines now both quad cores one for x86 the other for x64 builds
1 have 1 OSX machine dual core for well, the OSX builds smile.gif
And I have this machine [this is just the machines I use to build XBMC smile.gif] which does the Win32 DX [no installer] and DX Installer as well as the Xbox branches.

It took me about 3 days to rewrite the build process and about double that to debug it lol. mostly because I had to learn a lot of crap like doing SQL connections from dos and dos errorlevels and stuff. wow. Ended up being 1440 lines of code just to do the night builds. Sheesh. But now I just click one icon wait about 1/2 an hour and a box pops up asking me for my nightly banter and then hit done and poof it's on the site for people to download and enjoy.

Last week it took me about an hour of my time every night [for the last 2 1/2 years] to do the builds have them uploaded to the host then add them to the site. Now it takes me about a minute of my time to do the same thing so I am very happy spending the 100+ hours I spent writing the new build code. Since it now saves me about 59 minutes a day of my time it will only take about 101 days to pay for itself smile.gif 3.1 months is not a horrible ROI smile.gif

I really don't know why I went into all that, I just wanted to say that my site [www.sshcs.com/xbmc or better yet http://www.xbmcsvn.com] was having problems, I fixed the underlying issues but now have to re-write the site to deal with all the changes, so whilst the site is up and offering daily builds still, its borked in may ways so if you have an issue, please PLEASE click the link at the top of the page named "Report Error" and let me know so I can fix that issue first.

I hope everyone enjoys my builds [even the windows ones tongue.gif] and I'll keep doing them as long as people use em smile.gif

And d'Wooluf for more than a year and a half now Arnova has been the ONLY person doing any updates to the Xbox branch. there has been NO developement by the "team xbmc" on Xbox since then.

Now that we moved the xbox branch away from the main branch there has actually been real progress being made. Arno added Exo and the Xbox branch is alice again

http://www.xbmcsvn.com is a better address anyway smile.gif Same site, different address.
