How are these for backing up games? They as good as the 117s? I've got a tiger direct by me and these are the only pioneers that they stock.

I tried searching the forums and looking over the past few pages of topics but didn't see this one.

As long as it burns Dual Layer DVD, and it is a good brand, you should be set. Don't know why people need someone to tel them "oh it's the best" etc.

Pioneer IS a good brand.

Reading around this subforum the past few hours gave me the impression that many DVD DL burners just don't burn working backups

It's not really that. It's people use cheap ass discs or have OLD picky drives, then complain about results.

Also for some reason they need someone to tell them EXACTLY what dvd burner to get. Shit the cheap ass Matsuwhatever burner on my laptop works great, and so did a cheap old ass memorex i had laying around. It's not that big a deal, I bought a pioneer for $25 bucks from newegg (what i currently use) that works great.

Good to know. It seemed that the only problem people were having was their drives not being able to write the layer break at the write area. Just wanted to double check. I appreciate the quick response. I know the "Does XXX work?" get tiring
