Hi, kinda new to this so sorry if it is in the wrong section.

Basically i want to get my Xbox modded by flashing the hard drive but i want to know what are the risks of doign this. Ive read alot about it and most people say its bad because you get banned from Live etc

So what is the possibility of getting banned from Live? and is there a chance that the flashing could go wrong and could screw up my xbox?

Always a chance, but not as likely for a hard drive mod.

With flashing your 360 hard drive, the only thing you stand to damage is your hard drive.

Google hddhackr and you will see some more info regarding this.

I forgot to mention that i have the xbox elite. or does the modding not matter what console type it is?

Also i googled HDDhackr, but im kinda confused what it is... sorry but im kinda a noob to all this but i am good with computer so no doubt ill understand it if i was thinking straight. laugh.gif

most people do the hard drive mod because they want to upgrade to a larger hard drive. mainly going from a 20gb drive toa 120gb drive. you say you have an elite, so you should already have a 120gb hard drive, so you wouldnt gain anything.

you might be getting the hard drive confused with flashing the firmware on the dvd drive. there is another section on the forums that should asnwer all your questions on that. as far as that flashing goes, it doesnt matter what type of console you have (arcade, pro, elite) but it does matter what brand of dvd drive you have as there are different methods\steps used for flashing different brands

Hmm... maybe i am getting the two mixed up, anyway thanks for your help.
