hey hey
i posted here the other day about my problems, and since thats all fixed, im postin pics

this is what it looks like overall (mind u my room is very dark, so most of the details shown in the pic r not visible in my room wink.gif )

http://www.geocities.com/attilathehun025/i...l?1056474002625

thats the site, cus for some reason it wouldnt let me post the pics ( Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed??)

this was friggin hard to do, because if u look under the jewel, the dam memory card/live communicator input thing is rite under the jewel, so it took me forever to get the height of the fan rite, since the other side of the fan has nothing protecting it
i turn the fan on by plugging in the wire yellow/black wire into the white thing on the top part of the fan
as u can plainly see, i got extremely frustrated with the analog sticks (read my previous thread), so i carved off the hole around the right stick, which really doesnt affect n e thing gameplay wise
the air holes and everything works perfect, i can feel the air coolin my palms
this was not a fashion show, so i didnt make the controller look pretty, i made it so it does the job, and does it well
ill probably end up givin it a nice paint job sooner or later though
im too lazy to take apart the controller rite now, so eventually ill post some pics of wut it looks like on the inside
so...yea....thats about it....not bad for thinking of an idea, gettin everything together, planning it, practicing with drilling holes, and finishing in 5 hours (one night) jester.gif
so reply with questions/suggestions/comments
thanks

Add some LEDs behind the fan and behind the holes you drilled and it will look sweet.
A2H
yea i just replaced a green LED with a blue one in my comp, so ill use the green LED behind the fan, and probably buy some extra's

A2H
as u can plainly see, the left side is the first one i worked on (the air vents), cus the pattern is horrible
i was gettin pretty good by the time i got to the right side though
Senates684
looks nice laugh.gif but can you take a pic that isnt up so close so we can see it all?
A2H
the first one pretty much shows everything, but i guess i can take some more pics...

Done
Senates684
sweet! that looks very nice...air acually come outta those holes?
A2H
yea, just enough to cool my hands
its not like a blast of air, but its enough to feel
anything is better than the normal controller cooling wise

uziq
not bad. so you put the fan in the jewel's position?
rocketman121

trob
By the way, what's the purpose of the fan?
rocketman121
To cool his sweaty hands when he plays. Just like the air flow controller but homemade.
Senates684
I should do something like that...i always sweat and have to wash my hand every 20 mins or so... dry.gif
L3e
LOL. That is awesome, nice work man.

i saw your pictures and they look great! biggrin.gif do you have another fan on the back, i did the same thing but with way less holes, a fan on the back, and a switch to turn the fan on and off. And where did you find that fan? its round laugh.gif you did a lot of better job then i did on mine, this other guy did it first, then i did it and know you did it and i must say yours is special because of the fan on front and not looking really crappy like mine. biggrin.gif
twistedsymphony
nice work

definitly the pattern on the right hand is better than the one on the left...

if you do another one try drilling smaller holes and you'll get stronger air flow.
the smaller the holes (and the less holes you drill) the stronger the air flow will be...

can't hurt because if you dont like it you can always make more holes or make them bigger

think air hockey table for your hands cool.gif
NeO529
alright 2 questions: did you use just a reg drill w/ a drill bit for holes? I would think it would crack the plastic but maybe not....
And what size, and where did you get that fan at???
IITangoCrazy
dude u shoulda taken WAY more time to do the holes good idea but ugly as shit
iLLNESS
heh
if u ever plan to do this again, id suggest that you make a template with a peice of paper when u drill holes

what you could do is tape a peice of paper on the one side of the joystick... drill your hold..

then flip the paper over and use it on the other side... this would make the controller look ALOT more professional wink.gif

Did you read his posts at all? he said he didnt take much time. and its his first, lets see your xbox before you start talkin shit.
Ripasser
Thats pretty sweet. Im going to look into this mod... maybe try it once.
sk8phreak88
oh, forgot to ask where did you get that fan? thanks
aweirdguy
i love it
i was thinking about doing this with my S
i found a 30mm fan in a square inclosure that would have fit exatcly where the memory/live port is

problem was it was supposed to run on 12v
and the flow rating was low
wasnt sure it would push enough air to do any good

whats it running on for voltage and cfm rating if you know?
BAGGSIE138
cool idea and im sure its effective but it just looks like crap. good work tho. biggrin.gif
Pullout Method
I've done simmilar in my fattys. Save I pulled out the memory card slot and cuteverything but the outside off, then trimmed out 2 sections of the board inside the controller then slid the fan in. works pretty great. I used way less holes though.(I just have a tendancy to cover all the holes up.)
Altima NEO
My little brother could totally use this. His hands are like tropical rainforests.
estin
very cool mod, i just finished mine. thanks for giving me somethign to do!!! lol i had a old crappy airflow contoller i stole the fan outa and rounded the edges off. cutout the jewel hole glued in the fan and drilled some very tiny holes tightly packed together and it provides a very nice cooling breeze. i'll have to get some pics of my controller, the side vents turned out great and look like it was made this way. thanks again!
