I had to replace my Hitachi 47 and got a Samsung ms28 off ebay. Flashed it and it would error out in the middle of a game "disc unreadable". I am using TDK DL media that burns at 4x (thats the slowest) and had no problems with my Hitachi drive. I was going to send this drive back but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with wich drive is better. Hitachi or Samsung? Also do you think I should buy some different media first before I send it back?

Samsung is harder to brick when flashing and it should also be a better reader then hitachi,
Try opening it up and cleaning the laser aswell as tweeking the pot for more laser power.

You could also get a benQ or liteon your not just limited to those 2 choices.
