Ok, this is getting weird and aggrevating. If anyone can offer some suggestions, it would be appreciated.

I have a spare Hitachi 079 - not bricked (yet!) that seems it has been spoofed to look like a Sammy ms28. Jungle Flasher (Both 1.64 and 1.51) is telling me this.

I can send mode B fine in JungleFlasher but my computer will NOT recognize the drive. So, I figured I would go ahead and use Firmware toolbox (4.6 and 4.8) to try and restore the Hitachi to original firmware. However, when I go to Tools --> DirectDrive Flash -->

All the options are Greyed out. The drive is in modeB because it takes two clicks of the eject button (ck3 tool) to eject the tray.

Also, after sending ModeB, the drive does NOT show up in My Computer, and I cannot play the 79Unlock Disk.

I also tried to use iPrep to read the drive being that it is showing up as a Samsung, however, that will not work because you have to power off and on the drive, which takes it out of ModeB. I tried it anyway, and it fails time and time again on the Vendor Intro.

Also, I tried in JungleFlasher to send a Sammy Unlock doing it both as Stock and with the tray half open, and again, it fails on the Vendor Intro.

So, now that you got the low-down on the prob, I need to do the following:

1) Get this drive recognizable in My Computer
2) Restore the Drive back to original firmware
a) I am sure once the drive is recognized by Windows, #2 will be able to be done as normal.

Anyone?

Thanks,
Cedru

it is a hitachi and requires to be treated as a one , therefore will require hitachi methods and hitachi firmware so stop trying to use sammy unlock or iprep before you do some damage. you have not supplied enough info ,how are you connecting the drive, what sata are you using?how are you getting it into mode b? have you a jf log ?

I am using a via SATA Card (6421).

I am connecting the drive using the CK3 Pro tool and got it into mode B successfully with JungleFlasher (both 1.51 and 1.6x)

I was treating it as an Hitachi but after getting it into Mode b through JungleFlasher, My Computer is not picking it up and listing it. I even tried to use my old SLAX cd to try and get it into Mode B but it would not pick up the drive being there, like it always does with any other Hitachi.

I will post the JF Log tomorrow as I am not infront of my computer right now, but those are the details.

Thank You,
Cedru
