hi i have a xbox from around 2006 it has an hitachi drive in it and has stoped reading games / dvds but reads cds ok so i tryed to adjust the put with no luck so i opted for a new laser and its still the same it will read music cds ok and the games i am trying to boot worked before ive tried putting a bit of straw on the laser rail but i am running out of options am not 100% sure which hatchi drive it is but its has the hd63 laser, the games work on my other xbox.

thanks for the responce ranger72
i dont have any gear for removing the drive key, am sure if i just swap the dvd drive it will not work.
think i will try old laser back in at least i can play 1 game lol

If you get the same model drive (any 360 Hitachi drive) you wont need to read or flash any firmware. Just unplug the circuit board from your old drive and plug it into your new drive. Only takes a minute and is very easy to do.

Thanks ranger will try that next if this hd67 laser I just ordered won't work but am sure first laser was duff

tried the hd67 laser still did not work will have to see if i can get a hitachi drive. to swap

got a used hitachi 47 i think off egay for about 15 quid delivered swaped mobo and booted games stright up the xbox is like a new one now
