hi i recently did my first softmod and all went well , on the back of that i purchased a second xbox from a friend

this one already has a modchip in it the Applex Vi Pro

when i power on i get

xbox logo in orange , then after about 50 seconds ish i get error 16

i noticed there was a little switch on the modchip so i flicked it

then i get this

Evo X in top left pinkish colour normal green xbox logo then error 16 again

start the machine with the eject button and no evo x logo just green xbox logo followed by error 16

ive also tried the above steps with a retail game in the drive and get the same result ending in an error 16

i read somewhere that error 16 is to do with the internal clock setting

if anyone could give me any help with this i would be very greatfull

if its bricked oh well i will use it for spares and it only cost me £5

as i have big plans for this second xbox

thanks

after doing a lot of google searching im now downloading SlaYers_EvoX_Auto-Installer_v2.6_FINAL

in the vague hope that it will boot from it and i can sort this odd error out

im proberbly barking up the wrong tree but lets see what happens

if anyone can shed any light on what i should be doing i would really appreciate it

thanks smile.gif

Ok got my disc burnt and have booted to the evox menu (this took some time but it did it)

smile.gif

Kernel is 1.00.5838.01

after following a guide here on error codes ( Error Codes and other very usefull info ) & ( This is the guide i used i managed to set the clock or i should say somehow it set its self to 2004

now i have error 13 on boot which is incompatible dashboard

the original hard drive was fuxord as in physically damaged

ive installed another hard drive and used the slayers disc to do a full install/rebuild retail hd -5960

now all is working fine

thanks xbox-scene , i found all the info i needed here , i just needed to look a bit harder

seems the search is a bit odd

anyway im glad the problem is solved

ok just a few more questions

with the applex vi pro installed what can i and carnt i do

does anyone have a manual for this if there is such a thing

how do i find out what bios is flashed to the chip

is it worth me altering the bios version

and i presume the on position of the chip brings up the evox logo in pink on start up

are there any special key presses that do things on boot up

Thanks in advance for any help

1. BiosChecker
2. Read the links again.

The AppleX has 2 512K bios banks. The bank with the pink evox logo is M8+.16 and is for version 1.6 the other bank will have xecuter 4979 on it if it is original. These could vary if the chip has been reflashed at some point

what are the benifits of me reflashing this chip with diffrent versions then , or should i just stick with whats on already

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
