I bought a new xbox arcade last week and opened it up today to try to flash. while extracting the 4 files i get a box that opened up and said

dummy.bin is missing some drive specific information.

if this is an old dummy.bin that predates ox1.5 then if possoble you should re_extract your drive info again with the latest tools

you can rebuild the serial info if you have the original drive available. tick advance view, select the serialsub tab in the source tab. double-click the serial data

for some newer drives this info is blank by default, if you are happy that this is the case then there is no need to repair the serial info

do you wish to proceed anyway yes no

i booted up windows tuned on the drive with my ck3 then ejected the tray t\off the drive.slid the tray half way in and turned the power back on to the drive then started jungleflasher. drive showed up. i then connected my prob and hit get key dummy it promted me to save the first 3 files and then the above warning poped up. i restarted my pc and the drive and still had the same prob

it seems to suggest that for a new drive like mine this is normal and i should just hit yes but i wanted to get some thoughts from you guys. should i hit yes and keep going? what happens if my other 3 files are good but my dummy.bin is bad? would that mean a bricked drive? have any of you run into this prob before?

as always any help is greatly thanked

Its a knowen issue, Some people rebuild the serial info from the stickers inside the drive, Some other people think its not a issue and why rebuild the data that isnt there. So its really up to you, Iv gone with the logic and dont rebuild it because its not there so maybe ms can detect if you stick it back there.

Personally, I do rebuild it. I go with the logic that it was in there, and JF missed it due to some minor bug. I've noticed that there were still initials from some guy in a Factory on each label that contains the info. So I'm assuming that signature is the "verification" that the data was inserted, by their qc department.

But if one chose not to rebuild the serial information.

Would the drive still work? Assuming you've dumped a good drive key, and managed to flash the drive correctly?
