Hey, so I picked up Punch Out for the wii, and want to play it. Unfortunately, I have a wiikey 1 (firmware 1.9s) and Punch Out requires a system update.

If I do not care about homebrew, but I do care about being able to play backups.
Can I upgrade to the 4.x menu and not hose anything up? Aka still play originals and backups?

If I cannot simply perform the update, what course of action do you recommend?

You can update as long as its the same region,also if you do not care about homebrew than don't get upset if you brick your wii updating with the wrong region.
