I have gotten my Hitachi 0078FK into mode b a few times now but every time i try to get it recognized in windows, it wont. Any ideas why?
Im using the sata ports built into my motherboard and a 19" sata cable from radio shack.

I have no answer for you. Can you Please tell me how you got it into Mode B. I have the exact same drive.
I hook up a SATA from my Hitachi to my MOBO. Boot up the PC. Once in Windows I turn on my 360 and open jungleflasher but it doesn't recognize my drive. Do I need to do the sata to USB to get it to recognize? Please help me....

for mode B i used the slax method, i believe thats the only one that works for the 78FK, unless i've been misinformed.

For me with onboard sata it has to be in mode b an you cant kill the power to it at any time or it will revert back.
You could simply plug it in without using slax. Load up JF 1.65, after windows hopefully detects it for you now, and click the mode b button under the drive info on the left.
If you get it into mode b but it wont show up as long as you know exactly which port it is on select that port and try dumping it even though nothing is showing up.
That always worked for me until I got the via which now lets them show up regardless if windows detects it(doesnt ever I use the maximus extractor setup for power)
