Ive flashed 3 xboxes before me and now i finally wanted to do mine. the other flashes i did were to hitachi dvd drives (46's). my drive is a 0079 and im havign quite a hard time getting it to flash. ill walk you through how i do it:

I connect the drive to my mobo sata and boot slax to put it into mode b

i restart my computer and bring up jungle flasher.

before i do anything in jungle flasher i put the audio cd in my xbox and play it one full time through and then play it again and instantly pause it. then i hit eject on my xbox.

heres where ive tried a few varitations ive read about. first one ive tried is after i play the audio cd is going to command and doing 79unlock x and the computer INSTANTLY freezes. ive even tried to reboot the computer and it just hangs in bios.

ive also tried to insert a dvd or game after i played the audio and it freezes instantly.

it kills me to post in a newbie section because ive done this before with no problem and ive hacked almost every other system out there.

after you put it in modeb with slax,go to jungleflasher let jungleflasher do the unlock79,there is no need for a retail dvd or game within jungleflasher,personally i would let jungleflasher do the mode b as well but some ppl have trouble using it,but if slax is easy go with slax.

ive tried that and i always get a fail.

I've had many 79s fail during the unlock process, I just close out jungleflasher, power cycle the drive, start over, and eventually it will work. Doing everything the same, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't for me. I think the problem is with the drive and it's ability to read the disc. Just keep trying with JF it will eventually.
