so.. I'm a bit confused.. maybe this is a stupid question.. do we flash this to the nand with like the other xells?
or do we just make a usb stick with this on it? and stick it in and it will update itself?
**edit**
I can also see that this is no where near the size of the other xells so this must be some kind of usb flash to the nand..

let me clear this up.
add border when using SD master (thats to do with the video I belive so it doesnt go off screen)
support multiple LUNs, fix some usb drives (adds support for more usb sticks)
If you want to update you can use usb stick, Just rename to update to "updxell.bin"
You can also update within gentoo, or you can use the lpt.
for the lpt you use.
nandpro lpt -w16 updxell.bin 40 10
needs the 40 10 on the end to update.
this update worked fine for me, now I have some usb sticks that work with it where before update none in the house worked.

SD Master == StdDef TV, NOT sd card, which I kept thinking [didn't make sense, still thought it though...]. Thanks for clearing that up.
Didn't Cygnos send x-s a product sample that sat over the onboard nand ages ago? Was it ever reviewed or released? I am fiending for some XBL, and would like to switch between nands. I was waiting for some more info about said product... If anyone has any recommendations about what I can buy now, or a project I can build [would digi-key be a decent source for NANDs? how complex is the switching logic...], please share. [If there's a guide I missed, apologies in advance.]

if you play on live you will break the xell exploit, even with dual nand.
Live will update the fuses which will stop xell running, So the only reason for a dual nand is to be able to run 2 regions.

Thanks for the quick clarify majinsoft. Is there any benefit to me abstaining still? grab some cpu+drive keys or something? I have been quite far from all the 360 stuff... The original was my lifeblood. [been supplanted by the psp, and now the wii...].
I had completely forgotten about the fuses [Wasn't there a resistor that could be lifted? or was that regarding something else?]. [I may have just wasted away a month of xbl by being thick...]

Best thing to do would be pickup a 2nd hand xbox then keep one for homebrew and one for xbl.

I tried this with your lpt method and after flashing it resulted in my 360 refusing to do anything but just sit there after I pressed the power button.
I'm currently re-flashing the xell 1024x768 back to it to start over.. I first tried putting the updxell.bin on my flash drive which I knows works just fine for the emulator and running linux.. but it would never take it.. so something is wrong.. got any suggestions?

your xell is to old.
You need to get the one that is data 28/8/09 on xbins cant remember what its calls something like xenon_1921_hack.bin
Its only 1.3mb instead of the full 16mb.
And you have to flash back your orignal nand,
Then flash the latest xell one mentioned above
Then apply the patch via usb/linux flash/lpt
Once you have the xenon_1921_hack.bin you dont need to reflash the whole nand again because it allows you to apply updates just to selected parts.

Sep 13 2009, 07:03 AM
just a quick question.. why do I have to flash back my original nand dump? and the only "xenon_1921_hack.bin" I can find is inside a rar called well "xenon_1921_hack.rar" but it's date is 29/8/09 is that it?
theevilhacker63
Sep 13 2009, 07:13 AM
skip that I just read the info file for the 1921.bin... it's so my mac address and related stuff remains the same..
Ok flashing my original back now.. lets see if this work.
majinsoftware
Sep 13 2009, 07:50 AM
You flash back the nand dump because it has all the xbox info still in it and xenon_1921_hack uses some of that info.
Yes dated 29th should be alright.
Flash xenon_1921_hack as you would the nand normally, It will only flash 50 blocks which will take like 5mins,
Then flash the updxell with 40 10 on the end and it will flash 9 blocks which will take about a min. Or you could just update with the usb stick with updxell on it. takes about 30secs.
theevilhacker63
Sep 13 2009, 08:17 AM
ok I flashed back to my original nand dump.. booted my 360 up and she booted into the stock dash just fine... then I flashed the 1921.bin.. also went just fine booted the 360 and xell came right up.. then I tried the updxell with the 40 10 and my 360 did the exact same thing as it did the first time I tried .. turns on and just sits there
then I flashed back to 1921.bin made sure it booted fine and then I tried the usb stick formatted to fat and copied the updxell onto it and nothing.. sits at "HTTP listen"
like I said before I know the thumb drive is good works for everything but this so far.
so what gives..?

I'll give this a shot later on...
just curious.. what are you using as a display?
currently for me none of my LCD's on vga work so I have to use my hdtv over component ...
what im thinking is maybe this patch is working and im in the wrong video mode.. doubtful but it's something to test..
and honestly I really cant see why a "w vs W" would make the difference .. it's still flashing what we want to the nand and none of the other flashes I have done on my nand required me to use a cap W...
majinsoftware.. can you post a youtube video of you flashing this over lpt so we can all verify that were just not doing something wrong? I'm no idiot and have no trouble in the past getting things flashed over but this makes not a bit of sense to me.

-w write with ecc
-W writes without ecc
Since your only patching it you dont want to have ecc added.
Or the other way around.
And im using a 20 inch CRT, dont have a way to record while Im flashing. Im using a really old 46mhz computer and it bearly runs windows 98 and the flasher program at the same time. So theres no hope for running a screen capture program.

It now find the update from the stick with the new update

WOW !! I applaud you my friend.. 46mhz.. that brings me back! intel 386dx humming along at 16mhz.. and the trusty 486 with a whopping 33mhz...good old win 3.1 and dos days.. BBS FTW!
back when Netscape navigator was the default browser ... thanks for the memories!
I'm currently flashing with my trusty ibm thinkpad a22m 1ghz 256 megs ram.. coincidentally the only machine in the house that flashes correctly .

Try switching your xbox off at the mains before retrying. My 360 does the same, doesnt detect the USB stick after powering off. A quick full power cycle does the trick. Just make sure you wait for the LED to go off on the PSU before powering back on.

http://www.missouristatebookstore.com/asse...tore/micro4.jpgyou can buy them in walmart for I believe 10 maybe 15 bucks now? I removed the "u3" partition instructions online on how to do that and it works perfectly!
