Posted by XanTium | September 24 10:18 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Ced2911 released 2 new libxenon homebrew applications of the Xbox 360.

* Video Player Alpha Test
[QUOTE]
A basic video player for xbox 360.
Currently it can only just play a file called video.avi at the root of the first usb stick.
No sound and the screen output is very bad.

The first Brick for a video player :)

1080p mkv with .srt subtitle biggrin.gif muahhahahahahahha
Mr.RedRing
This is getting very, very good. I have held off of Live, picked up a new system, and let my old Xenon sit for a bit to do the hack, and bought a new system.

I think I made the right choice.

Are there instructions anywhere on how to get this running? uhh.gif

I know someone who still has the old version of the dashboard, just trying to figure out how this works...

You don't need the old dashboard, just a 360 that hasn't been updated on Xbox Live in July/August this year.

Dashboarsd Update July/August of this year??? until what kernel can the modification be done exactly in order to run Homebrew???
funkyfish77

CandieCorpse
i see a ton of people * claiming * they are trying this out but yet no one has produced a screen shot or a video there are tons of people ( like me) who do not have an xbox 360 with the capability of running homebrew yet and would like to just see this stuff in action, if anyone could do a video or a screen shot i think tons of people on this site would be thankful!

Thanks Alot.

Is this how it's done?

I found the steps to get homebrew running on a Xenon 360 here:

http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?name=For...60&forum=86

Looks pretty complicated, and someone on there claims that after you do this, you can't run Xbox 360 games or the dashboard anymore, unless you have a Cygnos360 chip that lets you switch between 2 dashboards:

You are flashing a Linux Kernel over the Xbox one. So no, there is no dashboard or ability to play games.
You can flash your old nand back though and use it just as a normal 360.
Yes, it is complicated for normal users. Hell, it even sounds complicated to me and I have a bachelors in computer science and engineering and have been doing this stuff since the first tsop flashes came along for Xbox 1.

Right now, its not very viable or useful for the normal "i just wana play emulators" end user. Its still in heavy development, and Im willing to bet at some point, there will be a full Xbox 360 linux build made.

Im just glad to see the scene up and running again.
This site was full of news not even 4 years ago. then 360 came about and everyone stopped caring about the Xbox 1 scene, which was very dissapoiting.

But its nice to see this flying along.
once full gpu and all 3 cores are opened up, there will no doubt be some awesome homebrew since you are able to get the SDK and the XNA license.

Yeah, I remember flashing the TSOP on the original Xbox before soft mods were possible, and I also remember the first Xbox modchip I bought was a "homebrew" chip that required I think 29 wires to solder:

Xbox 360s are soooo much easier to mod than the old Xbox. happy.gif
