Hey guys,
I was creating some backups the other day, I got a pack of 15 memorex dvds and I successfully burned 6 games in a row. All the games worked flawlessly, first try. Then all of a sudden I get 8 failures in a row! Assorted errors during the burn:
Unable to write sectors
Laser Power Calibration
Thats all I can remember off the top of my head, there was another error in regards to LBA but I can't recall. This error occurred during the verify process when it burned fine, but didn't work in the xbox. So i put it back in and verified it.
I successfully burned a 4.7gb DVD iso after all those failures and it burned no problem. I am at work right now, and I picked up a 15pack of verbatims during lunch that I will try when I get home. But do you guys think its the burner, or the media? I burned at 2.4x with IMGBURN, and I never touched the settings.

Hmm I would tend to go with a bad burner. The laser is probably cooked. Although, if it was me I would be checking the media first just to make sure. It's good you got Verbatims. If you get a bad burn with them then it's definately the burner.

Just a little update:
4 successful burns thus far, no coasters! Verbatim FTW!

try clone cd with the memorex.
I had imageburn working 100% for a long while till it started doing what you said, switched to clone cd and rarely get a bad burn. (same discs that were giving me trouble)
although verbatim is better media all around.

15 burned without a problem! I think it's funny that non-memorex brand media works better in a memorex burner, than memorex media.
