Hi all.

Opened up my white 40gb unit as it's not reading discs. It will accept and eject them fine, but i can see inside the drive that the laser doesn't light up, nor does it move (is it supposed to straight away?). It starts as far forward as it can be and stays there. If i manually push it back, then insert a disc, it does come forward.

Does it sound like the laser is duff, or could it be something else?

Next, where would be the best place to get a new laser? Ebay is a minefield, can the Hong Kong and Chinese sellers be trusted to have good quality parts?

Mine says KEM 400 AAA on it.

Thanks a lot. smile.gif

Hey,
to get good quality ps3 lasers and other parts go to www.modsupplier.com/catalog/ps3-service-parts-c-48_50.html
The price for a 400-AAA ps3 laser is around $147.23 USD, I know the price seems high but these lasers are not cheap china made lasers you can buy for $60.00 USD that only last a month! I have order two PS3 lasers from www.modchipsupplier.com the lasers are still going strong today and they also have other good quality parts. You can also check out modchip.ca they also have ps3 laser for sale as well.

Thanks mate for the advice, checked out the US store, comes in at $90 plus shipping, not too bad once you convert it into £'s.

Main thing i wanted is a recommendation as there is so much choice, so cheers smile.gif
