I use my xbox 1 with XBMC istalled as my media center for my tv. I have lots of movies, tv shows, UFC fights, music and so on and so forth, It is getting aggrovating to have to got ftp into the xbox to move files on and off when needed due to low hard drive size. So I was wondering what is the max size that the F partition can be? Also can I use a 2TB Sata Hard drive with a Sata to IDE host controller adapter? I put links to the Hard drive and the Adapter. I have an Xecuter 2.3b Pro (I think that is what it is called, its been about 7 years since I put it in)

All help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

This is the adapter I'm using. Seems a few other people have had luck with it as well. Unfortunately, the adapters are a bit hit-and-miss.

The F partition caps out at 1tb, as does the G partition. Both together allow for a maximum drive capacity of 2tb.

That said: You could set up some shares on your PC, then set those up as sources within XBMC on the X-Box. This would allow you to play videos directly over the network cable, instead of requiring you to transfer files to the console's HDD first. On a 100mbit/s connection, nearly all files should play just fine this way (even 10mb/s is serviceable).

I'm with Bomb Bloke on this one. A server with a large HD is the way to go. I have a ZyXel server with Raid setup with two 1tb drives. That way I don't lose data.

I can stream to any TV in the house with the Xbox connected.
