well i have 5 xbox 360's all mine 2 Hitachi a 79fl and 47 with 1.51 , 1 samsung ..don't remember it 1.6 , 2 benq 1.6 well any way my Hitachi 79fl and 1 of the benq will not play wave 4 games but the othere do with the help of the activate.iso disk except 49 it plays with out activate.iso

well the question of the day is why will some play wave 4 but the other wont all the same backup disk

p.s. i tried re flashing the 2 that don't play wave 4 and it did not work

Hitachi will just spin disk like crazy forever and the benq will not read activate.iso i put it in and no attempt to read it just straight to open tray but i put a wave 3 and under game in and it will work

i just thought of it but this might be in the wrong place if it is please move it but i thought it might be a firmware issue

At first I thought you were trying to use activate.iso with Hitachi .. but after reading again..
Sounds like the burn quality/media is suspect. Assuming the BENQ is flashed with 1.6./

well that is why i made this post it is the same media i use for every thing verbatim and the same disk on every xbox. i have made a lot on activate.iso disk none of them work with the 2 not playing wave 4 360 that is why i wrote this

check your firmware are really 1.51 and 1.6
burn slower
buy a new burner (honestly)

Benq 1.6 -- activate.iso does nothing --- other benq 1.6 -- all good --- same firmware -- same activate.iso same drive one works one doesn't -- donno why --

use a better burner Pioneer are good
use better media (verbatim ftw)
burn at 2.4x

Some of these might be your issue.

If the hitachi is reading other games without a problem it is strange as it must be on 1.51 to play wave 3 games.

I dont put it down to media unless you have changed things lately (burner/media??) Have you tried copying one of the games that does work onto the current batch of media to rule out media/burner problems?

i have check the firmware i re flashed them both and i have thought it was the media i have 2 types of dl's disk here verbatim and memorex wasted a loth of them both for this i have 3 burners here a lg a samsung and a liteon which is my newest made a copy of both wave 4 games with all of them so that is 6 different copy's 3 with each media type.

every single 1 that can play they do which is 6 working copy's .... but the 2 that don't 1 of the benq's and 1 of the Hitachi's it really makes me want to cry

well since i made this post nothing has worked re downloaded the firmware made both drives back to original then back to ixtreme the Hitachi is 1.51 fw 79fl and the benq is 1.6 fw 64930c will not boot any wave 4 but will boot wave 3 and under ...

so i guess i am going to say it is the drive for both of them instead of the firmware .... but the thing is when i put my original game in the 2 i paid cash for they wont boot ether they just spin up non stop even when the dashboard says "open tray" it still on both spins like crazy on both of them

could it be corrupted fw chip, bad sector on it i got my backups from the net and the games from gamestop

Try spoofing one of the other drives to go in one of the machines not working. This will then tell you that it is definately the drives with the problem.

ok i spoofed them both of them come to find out it is bad drives and i bet some noob out in the world has the same problem as me and he is getting yelled at on some forum saying he burning them wrong when it is the drive

bad 360 drives come first bad burners (assuming we all use verbatim media)
this must be sticky everywhere

ok just to give this thread a bump and a recap for people who read stright to the end

If you are trying to play a wave 4 game in a Hitachi 1.51 and you are 100% sure that you burnt it wright but wave 3 and under still play when you burn them it could be you have a bad dvd drive

Or if you have a Benq 1.6 and the activate.iso dvd don't work and you are 100% sure that you burnt it on the first layer of a DVD-DL and wave 3 and under still play you could have a bad dvd drive

The 2 drives in question have been:
Re-flashed to be original then back to ixtreme (which was re downloaded)
spoofed to be in different xbox 360's (did not work in other xbox's)
laser's cleaned and pots adjusted

And had:
different media tested verbatim and memorex
different burning software used Clone CD and imgburn
different burners used lg a samsung and a liteon
known working drive put in the xbox's to see if it worked to boot wave 4 (worked)

all media burnt worked in the other 3 xbox 360's that is a lot of the same 2 backups laying around

P.S. I will have both drives tested when 1.61 is out and post what happens

and i have ordered new benq's to replace the 2 dvd drives that don't work with wave 4

1.61 is funny I have found with the Benq from time to time you need to restore original firmware then flash 1.61 if not it willnot read original games this has not happened every time,but 3 out of 10 times
