hi im a newbie and dont know al there is to know about the whole backing up of games but i do know im doing something right but may also be doing something wrong as my games nba 2k10 forza 3 and need for speed shift all work... sometimes. ill play a game for a few then say i want to play another game i tput it in and it should work right .. wrong it goes to the disc error needs cleaned screen . and this will go on and on till i give up . if i try later on in the day the first game i try will work fine then next same problem error screen disc needs cleaned. i already tried the burning the game on the 2.4 speed and 2.0 and laying the xbox on its side none of them have seemed to help and i use imgburn and abgx360. only thing is ive been using memorex disc . i cant see this being the reason for this annoying problem. if anybody has any info on what i may be doing wrong or things i should try or a sure fire solution please let me know as i dont want to continue on with this problem for a long time.

I have had that problem before. 3 days after i fw mod my dvd drive it has trouble reading disk well the way i fix it is to do a pot adjustment on it

you need a multimeter to do it
please don't do it with out 1 you will kill your drive

well on all drives the dvd pot seems to be looking from the top with the sata plug facing you on the left near the laser and above the ribbon cable

Very curious I am facing the same problem. I got my modded XBox back today, and nearly every game I burned has this issue. Just so tired.

I've had this problem before. Mine was the drive and the discs. My Hitachi drive wouldnt read memorex discs but it read Verbatim every time. My samsung drive wouldnt read Verbatims and would Memorex. They would all usually work on a cold boot but the video would freeze and I would get a dirty disc error after a little while. I have replaced both with BenQ drives and Ive had no problem reading either brand. The difference is that the cheaper the disc you use the quicker you will burn out the lens in the drive. But you can try to use a different brand of disc or changing the drive. The pot calibration only works sometimes and has a high risk of going wrong if your not careful. And usually if it needs to be recalibrated its on its way out anyways. Also have you made sure that all of your settings are correct when verifying with abgx and have you set imgburn to burn the book type as DVD Rom? Hope this helps
