Hey guys long time member back when font exploits came out for the original xbox.

Anyways here is my experience on the new 1.61 firmware for the Benq drive that I spent the last 3 hours trying to to get it to work.

You NEED to Downgrade to the original stock firmware before updating to 1.61

Upgrading from 1.6 to 1.61 will simply not work. Jungleflasher will update it to 1.61 and reading the BenqOFW file will confirm it but the drive will not play Originals nor Backups.

You use the vendor mode on the 1.6 to downgrade to Stock Firmware as a reminder ie: eject, power off, push tray in, power on, press Benq Unlock

once you've downgraded I've also found out that using vendor mode isn't needed, just simply press Benq Unlock.
- I spent the most time wondering why 1.6 and 1.61 didn't work with backups and originals. DO NOT eject, power off, push tray, power on. It will still flash it to 1.6/1.61 but it simply will not play.

Enjoy the new fw fellow benq users

I had no problems flashing my BenQ spoofed as Samsung. I didnt downgrade either. With iXtreme 1.6 already on the drive you shouldnt have had to do the unlock. Just have the disc tray half open and select the intro mode to read the drive. Got the key and manually spoofed it then went back and selected write the 1.61 firmare. Everything worked fine first try and boots Tekken 6 and Fairtytale Fights without active.iso boot disc.

I updated 12 BenQ's today to IX 1.6.1 without flashing to stock.

You only need to flash to stock first if you have Hitachi.

All you have to do is read the current drives firmware then manually select the IX 1.6.1 files and click spoof target to source then flash.

If you think about it before you flash the drive it send the eras command to wipe whatever firmware is on the drive out. So it really does not matter what firmware is on the drive before you flash it.

Upgrading a BenQ to 1.61 took me 2 minutes, probably less. Got the drive ejected half way, intro'd it, read the firmware, used that firmware to copy the key over to the 1.61 firmware and pressed write. Worked fine. Same process with my MS28 too.

i took my 1.51 benq to 1.61 in five mins,
only difficult bit was half tray unlock as i used the 360 for power.

that said no going back to stock, or any complications!

I used the ck3 lite and JF, just hit intro device, read and injected, wrote, and worked like a charm. I did three of them yesterday.
