Hi everyone,
I have a BENQ with firmware 1.5 and my xbox has been banned. So i no longer really care about the whole wave 4 compliance. But i am not able to play wave 4 games. I receive a screen like its attempting to play a DVD.

These are my questions:
1. is there a firmware that i can use that does not care about the wave format? Like i stated i am banned so i dont care about online play. And i dont want to have to reflash when wave 5 comes out. I know i can use 1.6 and use the separate disk but i would rather just be able to put the disk in.

2. The only way i have been able to flash my drive is using iprep with a floppy. This makes me very weary about flashing. Will the blaster 360 work with my drive? Is it worth getting?

3. Finally the firmware that was suggested for question 1. Can i install it with iprep and if so is there anything special i have to do such as update the xml?

1 - Benq v1.41 has a non stealth

2 - Blaster wont make anything easier. You will still need to use the same tools on your PC.

3 - It will install the same way

thanks for the reply. I should be able to get the 1.4 from xbins?
also if i install 1.4 i should be fine on running any games or will i be missing some features? i thought the like hawx needed the 1.5 and up firmware. Just want to make sure.
So if i load 1.4 i should be good to go from here on out.

Yes i checked xbins before i replied. They even have a multispeed version but if your drive can handle 12x then go for it.

Sweet my only concern was that i thought certain games would not play on 1.41 like hawx. But I should be fine so perfect. Thank you so much

Hawx was the first wave4 game. It wont play on iX1.41 w/ stealth but it will play on iX1.41 without stealth firmware.

and will MW2 I know i am being a pain. But i also read that someone had an issue 1.41 not playing mw2. I know its not out yet just want to make sure. Thank you for taking the time to answering my stupid questions.

As long as you use the NON STEALTH version you should be able to play all games and all Waves including all future waves.

Try it and let us know how it works for you but i expect you will get the result you are looking for. If it doesn't work for some reason at least you can always flash it again to ix1.61

Make sure you have your key! Don't plug power in upside down and you will be playing all your games soon!

Thanks for all the help. I had a terrible time flashing this drive. I was expecting it to be so easy but WOW! Since last time was easy. So first i downloaded the 1.41 non stealth firmware from xbins and attempted to use iprep and received an error that firmware was not valid. I downloaded the xml file definitions and still nothing. So i tryed iprep 101, same issue and also a DTD error. I could not believe my luck this worked before. My jungle flasher does not work on my pc. It just does not read the xbox.
So i had a buddy's pc over and decided to give it a try on his. Both ipreps gave me the same error invalid firmware even though they are valid. So now i tryed jungle flasher. It was able to see the drive i was so excited but it would just freeze. It would put the xbox into vendor mode but then freeze during the reading of the banks. I tryed the 2 ports on the via card and the same thing. I was going to give up,
Luckly i found instructions on creating the custom firmware with the makefirmware batch and just adding the firmware to my current floppy from my old 1.5 flash. I ran the iprep and was able to flash the drive.

This is why i dont want to bother with the 1.61 firmware. I just dont want to go through this updating nightmare lol. But anyways i have 1.41 8x and it works nice. my buddy had a copy of mw2 and it worked fine.
