How do you change the ip on a NIC the card in question is SMC Networks EZ card 10/100

I've read both tutorials and followed them. I'm still getting the message "connection refused" on Flash FXP and "host unreachable" when I try to send a ping

and I can't get Evox to store the settings, whenever I leave the settings menu it defaults to its standard settings

on the settings screen presss down on the d-pad to scroll down. Select save and exit.
