c4eva sounds like a retard in my opinion. Many Many reps to c4eva for developing the firmware in the first place but unless we works for the department responsible for detecting cheaters then he cannot say his firmware is undetectable is complete bull. I know people who have played games early without verifying and they're not banned but people who never play early and scan 2+ times with abgx and have been banned. If microsoft can download the firmware they can develop a way to detect it, it's as simple as that. If you change the code it can be detected. Unfortunately it suck.

He said they cant READ the firmware directly, that doesn't mean
they have not found a way to detect the firmware.

For example there have being speculation of microsoft sending
a query for the dvd drive, the original & hacked firmware will
respond differently no matter what game you have in (original or cracked).

That just speculaton right now but it could easily be the cause.

c4eva may already know his firmware is detectable but he stand by his statement
that M$ cant read the firmware.

The firmware is the only common factor of all banned consoles so i think it much
be it, either the firmware or a major hole in abgx or the way we burn backups.

But whatever the case, whatever the bs, let give thanks to c4eva

well i just got hit by the overwhelming power of the banhammer. and here i was thinking i was gonna overcome it as its been 2 full on weeks and i was playing online (borderlands and retail mw2) since. guess not though.

Got a question about HDD. I KNOW a lot of people are asking these questions as ive been reading forums nonstop since oct 30th. But i dont know on how to go about using MY HDD on my bros LEGIT console. I mean when he goes to use HIS HDD on it, will it cause some sort of problem? I dont know, seems weird to have 2 HDD's licensed to same console, dont know if that would be a proper cause for flagging it? thanks and sorry for yet another HDD question..

Oh and btw here are my specifics...

Your Location: USA
Your drive: BENQ
Your Firmware: IXTREME 1.6
MFR: 10-18-2008
When you were banned: November 12, 2009
Did you play games before the official release date: Nope
Were all your games Stealthed checked and patched: Out of 5 total, 4 were level 2 and 1 level 3.

Never played backup Wave4 (only retail MW2).
Never used activate.iso

me and my buddy got banned. both on 1.6, dident play games before release, no wave 4. What got me thinking is the banning wave has something to do with the wireless network adapter. A friend of mine just connects a wire from his laptop straight to the 360, and he hasn't been banned since. I know its some far out theory, but maybe, just maybe it has something to do with the wireless adapter.

interesting, i haven't been banned yet or flagged (checked on xbox.com using repair page) and i have never used the wireless adapter.

Xbox 360 Live Ban Wave Update

Since Microsoft’s latest ban wave, all of the Xbox’s currently in my apartment have been banned. I could sit here and speculate as to why this has happened for hours but all you have to do is check one of the multiple 100 page+ threads around the net about the latest ban wave from MS. There is, however, hope for the Xbox 360 modding community. According to an IRC chat from C4Eva there is a new, undetectable firmware that is being developed specifically for the Lite On drives with no current time frame on when this will be released:

( @[X]nWo[X] ) [c4eva] new fw in dev/test - ixtreme LT (Lite Touch) - more efficient , minimal patching , all aspects of fw indistinguisable from orig, no more bans, No ETA!
.:23·40·37:. ( @[X]nWo[X] ) dont ask eta = ban
.:23·40·40:. ( @[X]nWo[X] ) dont ask question = ban
.:23·40·45:. ( @[X]nWo[X] ) liteon will be 1st

( @[X]nWo[X] ) we ripped 40+ ntsc games
( @[X]nWo[X] ) at least every 3rd didnt verify :c
( @[X]nWo[X] ) with a properly ripped ntsc
( @[X]nWo[X] ) so the db = defn has problems
( @[X]nWo[X] ) madden 10 is a prime exampke
( @[X]nWo[X] ) example

Sorry. ixtreme all versions is/are detectable or their behavior is detectable therefore hence a new FW is being worked on. For those with ixtreme I would advice no further use of 360 until this firmware is released. Until then, god bless 360scene. No technical data was being as to WHY its being detected all of a sudden.
For those thinking this is a lie:
http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/3962/picz54.jpg

So it seems that many different factors have been the cause of all of these bans. Even if the firmware was undetectable, the abgx database is somewhat flawed as well. There has been another post over at the xbox scene forums by someone who supposedly works for MS, but this has been unconfirmed although it does bring up some interesting points:

“I will post in here and hope my identity is not compromised as I will get into severe trouble

this is what i do. i am xbox live checks manager and i am the guy who helps run through the data being sent to xbox live that has been flagged for banning and was also discussed a very long time ago of what will “bring down all modified xboxs”

i myself have an xbox that has been modified because i think it is a crime what they do charging so much when the games dont even cost microsoft half of what they are getting
anyway. we have found a way to read the firmware. the nxe update has allowed us to do a check on the current firmware installed on the dvd drive

the reason this was not flagged was because the code was not active. as you might have heard it was discussed about a “self destruct” code embedded in the nxe update and even before that. this was that code it wasn’t a self destruct code but actually a check that was done on all drives

this check was begun when the update was to “prepare for the last.fm facebook and twitter” this in fact was the code sent out to begin checks on ALL xboxs

these checks would send us information on the firmware written to the drive not the exact kind but we did a extensive form of hash check on the drive and could actually find out if it was modified in anyway

this was particularly easy on the lite-on as it was actually manufactured to serve for this purpose as our testing model

we will not ban all consoles at once and yes all information about you has been collected a long time ago

we have THOUSANDS of xboxs reporting bad checks meaning modified firmware. not all people will be banned and all the bans are done at randomn times

multiple checks have been done over this amount of time so we could asure the modified xboxs were truely modified and not just returning corrupt data
i am sorry i did not com forward with this information sooner but this information has been critical to the cat and mouse game

this check was also done back in the xtreme days if anyone remembers that when c4eva had to rewwrite it to allow the checks to come back clean well this must be done again
sorry all for the bannings but it is a natural process and I wish you all luck and hope you do not get banned

if you do await the new firmware that is begin developed and cheers to you all you wanted to know it now you got it

With everyone around the Xbox 360 modding scene going crazy lately, I think its safe to say that no one is safe even if all of your games have been verified. Those who have not been banned may be banned at a later date or may never been banned at all. Although all of our Xbox 360’s have been banned, one of ours still plays on live. It occasionally gets an e74 error code but we are able to temporarily fix it every time by using a heat gun. It had been off for about a month and a half and when we plugged it in last night it allowed us to play Call of Duty: World at War on live. I checked the console’s serial number on Microsoft’s support site to request service but it says that the console has been banned for being modified. I guess we’ll see how long it lasts.

I have a question, first about the current situation:
  • I haven't been banned yet (according to the xbox repair site)
  • I haven't been on Live since July 24th
  • So I haven't downloaded and installed the twitter & facebook update

Is it save for me to play stealth games (wave1&2) offline?
Since I haven't downloaded an update from xbox live since the last 3 months..

(I mean of course the latest update to make the 360 ready for the twitter update)

Seems that i am the only one whom is concerning about something an M$ employee told me.

She claims that they cannot guarantee you that your original (and therefore none modded) Xbox can be banned wile recovering your Gamertag.

Meaning, you have to buy a new membership en loose everything; gamertag / MSpoints / gamedata etc etc.
this must mean that the can check something else then bad rips or FW. (or store data?)

I specifically asked by mail (no answer yet) to provide me that piece of text of the Term of Use where they claim they can ban a original xbox.

Thats the same as going to jail for theft ans when you come out getting arrested for the same theft and going to jail again, over and over again.

previous topics disappeared without notice but this seems rather important to me, everybody thats been banned is probably buying a new console and recovering his gamertag without getting warned...

Is that true?

I have a question. I went to do the Network Connection, followed all of the steps. Took out HDD, plugged in ethernet. I find out my xbox is banned. However, I not only got the Z error code, but the Ban notice as well!?

Now, if I stay offline from now on, and connect my HDD, will I still be able to do game saves (that is the primary thing I want). Or, can I never use HDD on this console again ?

If your console is not modded, you should be okay. Somewhere I read that when you do a console update, it needs to re-download the divx license.

Other people have reported that doing the network test, even with the HDD disconnected, disables their HDD save capability. It doesn't sound like the network test is safe.

Okay this is the situation.

My console is banned. The 20gb HDD that came with it, I took it out long before it got banned. Now, I'm planning on trading my banned console with my brothers. So I get a unbanned console, and he gets a banned console because he doesn't care about XBL.

For now, I need the 20gb HDD, so I will be keeping that and I will be letting him have the 120gb HDD.

When he connects the 120gb HDD to the banned console, will it:

a) be disabled permanently? (so when I switch it back to the unbanned console, it will still be all messed up?)
cool.gif still be able to save game data (like memory card)

I have been reading many pages here but I am still confused about the ban based on whether someone plays online vs offline only. Here is my situation. My 360 is modded on 1.4. I have 2 Gamertags: one that I use to go online and one that is not even registered on XBOX Live.

I never play games online. When I play games, I am ALWAYS offline on the account that is not registered on XBOX Live). However, as you know, occasionally a game will say that it needs to connect to Live to download an update (otherwise you can't play the game): I normally click YES, it goes ONLINE, I download the update, disconnect, and resume playing offline.

I do use XBOX Live (using my other gamertag) but only to browse What's New, view a few demo videos, download the odd demos, etc. but never to play online against other folks.

To date, I have survived all previous bans and assumed that was because I simply do not play online at all. But now I am not so sure. Although I am very curious, I am trying to resist the temptation to sign on XBOX Live to see if I have been banned. But I am sure at one point or another, my curiosity will take over and I'll go check (I'll try to wait a couple of weeks at least). I am in Canada and I have played a "backup" of Forza 3 but again never when signed on to LIVE.

I expect that no one can tell me 100% whether I will be banned or not but any feedback as to the likelihood that I will be banned given that I never ever played online? Comments?

The ban would not be a major big deal for me (like I said I never play games online) but I do like to go on XBOX Live about once a month to see game videos and demos, read about new releases, etc.
evans05
finally the ban hammer hit me, its ok i knew it was coming thats why i orderd me new arcade with mw2. no one to blame but myself, still keep the modded to play some poopy games but buy the ones i really want, i have missed the excitement of not getting a game on release. it was a lite-on drive purchased 5 months ago

I did this last night to find out I was banned...got a ban notice when testing xbl, then immediately powered down the console. I removed my Ethernet cord and connected my HDD, booted up and i was still able to play my copy of MW2 installed on the HDD.

Its up to you if you want to try but I was able to find out for sure I was banned and I still retained all HDD functionality.

However, if you've connected to Live ever in the past, then you can be banned. The only way to know for sure that you are is to either connect to Live and get the message or to call up Live support and have them tell you that you are.

I've been going through the questionaires people have filled in on these forums and I've noticed that the oldest firmware which is banned is 1.51.

I've got firmware 1.41 on a panasonic drive and still remain unbanned. Anyone else in this boat?

Okay, so knowing my console is banned, can I do the following:

1) Continue playing burnt games, but offline
2) save game progress on the HDD

I might as well try and make this my console for offline games. Possible?

Yes or no ?

You might be right on that. I don't recall exactly what these updates said. Probably more along the lines of "if you don't accept the upgrade, you will be sign off XBOX Live or something like that. Similar messages than we get when they want us to do system/firmware updates. The point was, I normally accept these updates (as I assumed they were correcting bugs in games), would then sign off XBOX Live and go play the game offline.

Technically, that makes me exposed (the only act of retrieving updates on XBL) to MS bans but I keep thinking that MS is really after people that used their modded boxes to play online and don't care too much about folks like me who never play online. Of course, I might be wrong and I may find myself banned next time I tried to log on the XBL biggrin.gif

So now I am banned it is kind of a relief as I can now just play games without stealth checking or worrying about release dates.
Microsoft have cut me off from their only source of revenue I was still giving them, buying arcade games.
When I lived in the USA and games were cheap and I had a gamefly subscription I had no interest in hacking my Xbox.
When I got back to Australia and games were $120 each I said f@uck you M$ and hacked my Xbox.

We don't know if thats true. If the check still requires a disc to be in the drive, anyone who doesn't use originals or backups on live might escape without a ban.

so the criteria for banning might be important.

It seems like its corrupting your xbox not your hard drive, If i were to buy a brand new Hdd and us it on the banned xbox then wouldnt that become corrupted therefore the xbox is whats making the corruptions happen so now banned xboxes are pretty much useless for data,
ex.. say i have a friend who never plays online and never will and he has an unmodded-unbanned xbox and i trade him my modded-banned for his then if he puts his Hdd on the banned xbox and never connects it to the internet just uses it offline would his files then become corrupt? and would he not be able to install games to the hard drive? if so then M$ corrupted the xbox not the hdd

If I'm missing something here, I'm sorry in advance.

I had an Xbox 360 elite with a Lite-On drive and 1.5 firmware. I was banned, playing backups of Guitar Hero 3 and Batman AA. Found this out when I went to play retail Forza 3. My own fault for being banned, and I accept that.

Anyway, bought another 360, put the hard drive from the banned one on there and went to recover the gamertag, and it says this:

Can't save your profile on the selected storage device. Please make sure the device is inserted correctly and has enough free space, and then try again.

The 360 can connect to Live (ran the network test) and detects the hard drive (and can read an offline profile that was created pre-banning).

So, the question is, can a hard drive from a banned 360 ever recover a gamertag on a hard drive from the banned unit? Will a format fix this? I have another drive if needed, but thought I'd look into it (as the other drive is a 20 GB and this one is 120).

Thanks.

Thanks.

I had the same issue but I deleted the profile and try to recover and it worked fine. I would suggest trying that.

I just found this site, is it legit anyone?

http://www.ixtremelt.com/download.html

LOL... "legit" you ask.... obviously some enterprising individual (after hearing about the new firmware name) - jumped on to a domain registry and grabbed "ixtremelt.com" as quick as they could. Then haphazardly knocked together that site.

It would be hilarious if that was just a working name, and they changed it to iXtreme 1.7 or xXxtreme 1.0 right before release.

Hey Melandre,

I play my Xbox "exactly like you". And guess what, I got banned. (like you no major big deal to for me either).

I still can save games though as I play. It says "saving to disk" whenever I play my backups. To answer your question in a nutshell as a mirroring play style of Xbox Live as you, It is just a matter of time and when that eventually you will banned. If you just play Xbox for the campaigns nothing else and want to save progress, so far still works for me, as far as my feedback to you.

I honestly belive that MS are able to read FW now or each Original game out there has a unique ID per disk (less likley imho). I know, I know, we've been told hundreds of times that they can't but my experience is as follows and the only (obvious) explanation is that they read fw.

I have 3 XBoxes. All modded. The last one (box 3) was done 2 weeks ago.

Box 1, Benq, I play on all the time, I expected to get banned as I used ISO's on this before I found out about ABXG. I've had a good 2 years of gaming joy using this and It's finally been banned. Banned Midnight Fri morning.

Box 2, Liteon, last used around 1 month ago prior to any updates, this is used mainly for media streaming and the only 2 games played on it was Batman and Rock Band. Banned Midnight Fri morning.

Box3, Lieon, Modded 2 weeks ago, only backup used on this was Need for speed: shift and that was to check that the mod had worked. Literally used to the point of the vendor intro and then turned off. Since that It's been sat gathering dust untill I got my store bought COD:MW2 and was than banned midnight Fri morning after 1 day of play.

It's Box 3 that's making me think that MS are reading the FW, as only 1 backup was ever used on it and it was still banned.

Thankfully, I don't play online much and will look at alternatives now (like leaf or xlink Kai) for online play. So this hasnt hit me that hard. In fact I'm now looking forward to playing some of the pre release games without any more worrying of bans.

I won't be buying a new xbox - ms have had enought cash from me and from now on, i'll try online play via my ps3.
