still going strong! watched an m2ts format film through media centre last night. is my xbox special, or does the ban only hurt media centre when you're setting up a new link to your pc?

Was banned about a week ago (thanks to my wife for signing in!), but the optional media update still works. Since I don't play games on live, as long as I can still watch divx/xvid, I'm okay with the ban.

when you say media center, do you actually mean the video blade? because they are two completely different things, and media center requires you to be signed in to live to use it. you can't use media center even if you aren't banned if you can't connect to live (internet goes out, avoiding a certain dashboard update, etc.).

ye mine works too altho my xbox was banned on old dash and i updated to new dash and live saw it so hdd is crippled and i am still able to use MC

this is not true. media centre works great once its set up, live or no live. and yes i'm talking about windows media centre, not the 'Videos' menu where you can watch wmv's and mp4's. i set up media centre between my xbox and pc before i was banned, but i'm sure i didnt need to be connected to live to do it.

so i guess the media centre works unless you are setting it up from scratch? just have to make sure nothing happens to the media centre settings on my pc! i'm still quite interested to know if media centre still works for everyone who is banned, or if it's only certain consoles. wouldn't this be useful to know?

mine don't work on the ban console, just the video blade..
my buddy didn't set his MC all the way up (halfway only)then got banned and his works great when he was ban and finished processing it...
so i guess its something to think about and why this happens to some and not others...
