ive got a console that had 6xxx kernel on it(not to sure exactly). i backed up that nand, and its a successful backup. i recently updated that console to 8955 to access live. if i was to flash back to the previous backup, would that then allow the kernel to be exploitable?? basically, i wanna get xbreboot running on another console of mine. i did it for a friend, and i love the outcome. ive got a few spare consoles laying around that were bad dvd keys. managed to fix those. any one attempted this??

By updating the 8955 you have blocked homebrew.
The CPU within the xbox has been physically modified to not allow booting of the exploitable dash.
Unless you have millions of dollars to take the cpu apart, forget it.

yep the new dash threw a Efuse and there is no way back.........
na about 50.000 would get you a pic of the insides.....and about searching in this forums would of been cheaper...now you know....

thank you guys for a real explanation, i couldnt wait and was curious myself. managed to get a 3rol, with a secondary code of 0022. i tried flashing xbreboot onto it. after that i tried going back to the original 8955 that was on it, still no luck. atleast now its documented somewhere.

its well known that you couldn't. people have been telling people for a long time that you cant downgrade.

Thats just stupid. The developer of the hack clearly says so and you tried to prove him wrong?

Its stupid for him to ask such a thing..indeed. However, it is not stupid for him to prove anyone wrong, be it a developer or not. The whole point of this community is to be creative and build on each others ideas, or so I thought.
Major breakthroughs start with just a simple question.

Yes, at 16th Feb 2010, 9:13pm all xbox360s no matter what cb# will be exploitable...
My magic hat just whispered that to me.

IF you already made a dump,
Then you make another one.
Modify the values of the old dump to resemble the new dump
why wouldn't it boot again?
I know you have to manipulate the CB's to make the old dump 'blow' the efuses that the new dump blew during the updates. When did that change?

If I can replace the cpu I will be good right ?
(with pre 8xxx nand flash)

Maybe.
But you need to be sure the CPU matches the board and you have a good copy of the NAND of that board before you start.
Also its not easy to reball and replace the CPU if you dont have the right tools.

the easiest is to sell your box on ebay and get one that is jtagable.
switching CPUs is kind of unefficient. its not worth the effort (and hard to do)
