Hey all, I've got an original xbox (v. 1.0 I think) with an xenium modchip in it (don't know what version). I want to run the xbox as a linux computer, but it's old enough that I'm having a tough time finding any definitive guides on how to get it to do so. I do know that I can't flash the tsop because it's fried, so anything for the bios would have to run off the modchip I think. Would anyone explain how to get linux running on it in terms that a total noob can understand?

Thanks much

Download Gentoox (here), burn it, boot it, and install it.

Download other distros for xbox here.

If you want to go further, you can flash this linux loader to your modchip and go "Linux Only". This will make your xbox only run linux. No xbox games or apps.

Gentoox was the first version of linux for the xbox I installed. It is about as easy as installing windows XP and just as automated.

Good luck

How do I burn the disc to install it? I've burnt iso discs before but never anything from these kinds of files. Do I have to convert them to an iso file?

Thanks
