Hey everyone!

Got this CECHE01 console which seems to just died.
happened when I was out, my cousins turned it on, maybe they updated and turned off, don't really know, hope is not the case.

Symptoms:
Console powers on normally, no video in HDMI or Composite/Component
Green light comes in, blue turns on when loading a disk
Can't reset setting with PW button hold for some seconds
Turning it off takes like a minute over the power switch
Switched hard drives.
tried everything

Console was bought in USA, brought to Mexico, and sony will not fix my console even if I'm willing to pay (and the repair price has been raised to USD$$300 which is very expensive).

Nothing seems to help.

Any help will be really appreciated over this.

I would assume that you have tried the hold power button while booting til console beeps to reset video out settings?
that is my only thought for ya.

I'm quoting my last post, as I think I wasn't clear enough to explain myself.
You assumed well that I've tried the hold power button while booting til console beeps to reset video settings.

No offense... but thanks

A friend brought me his old ps3 40g with similar fault, no video from hmdi and from scart etc, he could hear sound etc.

I took out hard drive and put it back in,ps3 said the OS was missing and currupt etc, so reinstalled like new and then i got it working.

Thanks for the reply Mr.Raw!

I considered switching HDD as a way to fix it, not working.... the problem about the OS is only for 40Gb and newer units, mine was able to format the hard drive with no updates on USB at all.

my ps3 doesn't give anything, no sound, no nothing. Is more like when RAM fails with on-board video in a PC.

If the OS is damaged, well, that's another big problem, no way to fix it yet because it lives in the Nand...
