As per the title, however I have already replaced the laser and mechanism, - is there any other reason why this would happen?

my only guess would be to do a system factory default reset

I have replaced the laser, done a full restore - replaced the laser with another new laser - first one from jackofallgames, second one from 360upgrades - still no luck.
I have done a full HDD format, a full system restore.
What else can I try - or what else could the problem be

i guess you can rule out laser and software
you are only left with i assume the board or the flex leading to the laser itself
