My console is still on the 7XXX dashboard, and has NOT been jtaged YET. So I don't want to update just yet. If I patch games to wave 3, will they still boot with IX 1.6, even if they aren't the correct wave? Also, will this let me play them w/o updating?

Also, would it be smarter of me to flash IX 1.6 non stealth to my xbox instead? Will that work with JF?

Patching from wave 4 >wave 3 is not the best idea if you would like to keep your console Hackable!
You will still need to update to 8xxxx to play any recent games !

so first get your console jtaged then you can play around with the patching(but really no point you can play all your games from an external HDD with XBR )

But i thought the wave 4 was the only thing making you have to update. Not the games themselves...?

The game itself specifies what minimum kernel is required to launch, the "wave" has nothing to do with it.

anyway to tell if any games will work on 7XXX that are wave 4? I noticed when trying my backups from my 8XXX console that all of them say the system must update, except band hero has a totally different, and shorter message.

Maybe Band Hero?
