How would i set up/install evox as my dashboard instead of unleash x on a softmoded xbox? i put a larger HD in as well, it all works except i cant go to msdash(dont need to anymore) and the unleashed dash is crap.

It all depends on how the soft mod was installed. You need to FTP into the Xbox and look for a dash or dashboard folder. It is usually on the E drive. In there you will find default.xbe. You would rename that file UnleashX.xbe and FTP Evox.ini to that folder and Evox.xbe to that folder and rename Evox.xbe to default.xbe.

All of this needs to be done at the same time. If you rename default.xbe to unleashX.xbe and turn off the Xbox or lose power your soft mod won't boot.

You may want to try XBMC as a dash instead of Evox. You can set your games, videos and music up without editing the Evox.ini file. Plus you can play all of these without another program.

Same thing, locate your dash.

Put XBMC in the E:\Apps folder. You should have E:\Apps\Xbmc with default.xbe in there.

Using the shortcuts in the _tools folder I believe of XBMC on the PC you rename the default.xbe in the dash to unleashx.xbe. You then FTP shortcut......xbe to the dash folder and rename it default.xbe. You do the same with shortcut.......cfg, renaming it default.cfg.

When you reboot you should have XBMC as the dash.

Ok im going to have to burn the files needed to a disc and use boxploroer to do this cause i can't seem to get my comp to connect to anything with the network cable right now, it keeps flashing saying it finds it then it dissapears then it finds it and so on, comp is crap >:(

So i just need to change the name of xboxdashboard.xbe to somthing else and then put xboxdash from xbmc in the c drive and move the xbmc folder into the c drive or leave it in the f drive? and what ini file would i need to modify?

DON'T CHANGE Xboxdashboard.xbe. It is probably the MS Dash.

Ok first let me quickly explain why the c drive is going to be a mess, it was a softmodded xbox i modded for my son like 5 years ago using the bert and earnie font hack, anyways its been a long time since i have even touched an xbox 1,i been modding 360's now, anyways i well trying tup do the component video out mod and the coaxial digital out i had to enable it in the MSDASH but it would always give me the error 21 so i tried installing slayers disc with evox as dash and then rebooted and i got the error 13, so i formatted the drive (had the eprom and hd key backed to my pc but nothing from the c drive or e drive, so what i did was used xboxhdm_v1.9 to make a new hard drive in in the c drive i tossed this random folders and they worked.

The dash doesnt even work well, if you try to load anything off the dash or off a disc from the dash it loads the unleashx loading screen and freezes there, so could you give me a break down of what files i would need to move where and which ones i would need to edit on my pc and burn to a disc ( i actually instead take an xbox 1 game as an iso and rip it open and sneak a folder into the data with the files i want over and then compile and burn and tada!! anyways thanks for all the help, if i need to give you any more info let me know

What would probably be best for you is to get Frosty's Rescue Disk or CASH Ver1.1 and use it to update the soft mod to Krazie's Ndure 1.1.1. When you do that you can select XBMC as the dash.

I just burned frostys rescue disc a few days ago, so how would i use that to re do the softmod? is it as easy as just clicking a button or will i have to go through a bunch of moving and copying and jumping up and down? lol

Since you have Frosty's you don't need Krazie's. I have never used Frosty's but I am sure it is simple. You would choose from the main menu to redo the soft mod to probably Krazie's or Ndure whatever the option. That should rebuild the HD with a complete new soft mod installed. I know CASH Ver 1.1 leaves the F drive alone. If there is anything on there you can't replace I would back it up to the PC first.

Frostys doesnt have any options to redoing softmods as far as i can tell, just unlock and lock hard drive, and file managers, thats about it., im burning krazies piggy backing it in the files of rollar coaster tycoon and will let ya know how it goes

Well i got it to load but quickly found out that the file i got is missinf dashboards and any of the other apps its supposed to install when asked so i guess i need to add the dashboards and such, i never found anything in there about softmodding it either, maybe im not looking in the right place?

Krazie's is an exploit used on a virgin box to get it soft modded. It would be better to use CASH. I don't know if you can find in anymore.

OK. Frosty's won't work for you. The best option is to use CASH and let it upgrade for you. If you can't do that you can FTP Krazie's to the Xbox. Delete everything on the C drive and FTP stock C drive files from Slayers'. When you reboot you will have a stock Xbox with MS Dash. From there you can load the game that you chose for Krazie's. Run Linux and install the softmod. Krazie's is pretty simple. If you have a 130gig or less HD you can choose .06. If you are running a larger HD you can run .67. 06 gives an F drive and .67 gives an F and G drive. That's about the hardest thing about running Krazie's.

After that if you want XBMC as your dash, follow the steps given before.

I dont have any of those games anymore wouldnt it be easier for me to download a new evox dashboard and edit the ini well on my comp then burn the dash and ini file to the roller coaster tycoon game and then copy it from the disc to the c drive and have the ini point to the default.xbe? all i would want to know is do i put the evodash folder in C drive or the E:/apps folder and have the default from it in C drive with the ini pointing to e apps?

OK, looking back at your C drive it looks as if xboxdash.xbe is your evox dashboard. I would need to see the files and folders from the E drive to make sure.

*IF* xboxdash.xbe is your dashboard file you could try putting evox.ini in the root of the C and make sure. You could then rename it evox.xbe and use the shortcuts mentioned before to make XBMC as your dash.

You could use a stock evox.ini file from Slayer's or another source and keep Evox as your dash.

I would still try to get CASH Ver 1.1 to update the Xbox soft mod.

If you keep Evox as your dash you should read the post on how to set up Evox. It isn't that hard and is a good dash to use for kids. It keeps it simple and allows you to set up their games without options to mess things up too bad.

Sounds like a plan thanks man, i will try messing with that today, i tried just copying the files over and renaming the evox.xbe to xboxdash and it gave me error 13 so i just took the drive to my pc and rebuilt the c drive again and popped it back in ,only took me a few min so i can just mess with it and if i screw it up its a quick fix now
I looked on xbins for CASH but no luck, and googled it but always torrents that dont work or websites that you need to have a paid account to use, so unless theres one in my microwave hiding then i dont think its out there anymore lol

That shows that Evox is looking for Xboxdash.xbe as your MS Dashboard.

Post the contents of the E drive. We don't want to erase everything.

Since you can connect the Xbox HD to the PC, you could use Kingroach's Ndure installer. With it you don't need the game to install the new softmod to the Xbox. Look on Xbins for it. There are numerous tutorials for it here. I haven't used it. I use Mech Assault and Krazie's Ndure.

Ok i downloaded it and copied the c folder and e folder to the xbox,then went into boxplorer and deleted the files from C and replaced them with the ones from the installer and copied the contents of e over as well,i rebooted and it worked but its unleash X again, diffrent one but same non the less, so i ran slayers rescue disc to install evox on large hard drive in F: and when i rebooted it just came back up as evox again lol, so thats when i turned the xbox off and am now frying my brain with some lovely green stuff cause god dammit i quit! lol

Slayer's isn't meant for a soft mod. Changing dash boards is usually left to FTP. I saw a video on Youtube that showed using AID to change the dashboard. I don't recommend it as AID, like Slayer's, is meant for a hard mod and not a soft mod.

Ok so then i should just leave it well enough alone then if its working right now i cant get to the msdash still but no loss as i can change vid and audio settings in xbmc like stated before.
