Hello there, i'v been googling all day and it seems like im like the worst googler alive =)

So My problem is that i dont have a flatscreen tv.
On my tv i only have RGB (red whit and blue) and svideo inputs.

Bought a XBOX cable with, Optical out, Svideo out, RGB out and Component out (red green blue)

When i have Optical out to my reciver it gets sound so it's working allright.
But its not 5.1 sound its only stereo.

Was at my friends place where he has a hdtv and ran the xbox from component out and optical in reciver we got 5.1 sound.

If i set the cable to Component out, i do get a video on s-video but only black and white (tested both pal and ntsc same result only that in ntsc the screen jumps.) i do get the 5.1 sound aswell

If i set the cable to normal then i get picture both on RGB and a color picture on S-video
and only stereo output from xbox

I can only activate Digital sound in xbmc when in Component mode on the cable
is there anyway i can activate it and get picture on s-video ?

says that digital sound works with S-video. But I don't know how your cable is doing the mode selection.

You might want to look up this as well: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=&...t&p=1488420.

Basically the idea is to use the correct mode to get surround sound and S-Video output.

well the symbols on the cable is
mode 1: Component active
mode 2: S-video rgb activated

I think its pretty strange my S-video gets signal in both mode just not all the colors when using component.
i had hope that there was a way to force the setting in xbmc choose digital output instead of analog.
