I am trying to load the xell backup on my xbr3 xbox. From what I have read, you press the media center button on the remote, and the xell bootloader will show up.
I press the media remote button but nothing happens on the screen. I am hooked up through a VGA cable

XBR 3 boot Xell = boot 360 with eject button 
I tried pressing the eject button and the nxe dashboard comes up

If that's the case, either:
1. The dvd drive in your 360 has tray sticking problems.
2. Your Xell install isn't right. Try re-installing the Xell part of XBR.
*ninja edit* having just seen the last part of your post, dump your XBR'd NAND and compare to one you've injected your kv and/or not config. Seems like somethings wrong with your install.

I figured it out. The eject button was not working on my other XBR box as well, but the thing they had in common was that they had no DVD drive plugged in
